You are confusing income and revenue/turnover. They aren't the same.

That said, there is no question that Juventus are the best run club in the country by miles, and it is far from mundane that they actually have been able to build a stadium in contemporary Italy.

Yeah, I was sloppy with the terminology there. We've discussed Serie A team owners and their love of grandiose plans for (unrealised) new stadiums before of course. Some lovely physical scale models have been produced in the past as well. I seem to remember Sampdoria unveiling an impressive seafront example to local journalists, complete with yachts and jetty. Modern 3D rendering software has largely killed this grand tradition - which is a pity.

The location is right but the stadium design I remember (vaguely) must have been from an earlier proposal, and bore more similarities with the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. This would have been well over a decade ago now.

If the dream is to become reality I know of no man more capable of dealing with Italian municipal bureaucracy than yer man Massimo Ferrero.

Lazio ultras managing to find time during their visit to Milano for the Coppa semifinal to unfurl a "Honor to Benito Mussolini" banner accompanied by Fascist chants and salutes a few blocks from our old flat (and even closer to the location where the man in question was strung up).

This Juventus team are fascinating, having a team with Ronaldo up front, and szeczny in goal is like slapping the Death Star Planet laser on the back of an austin allegro, and calling it a tank.

Who is that inter player who looks about 40 and looks like he would be happier organizing underground dog fights? He has the sides of his head shaved up to make him look like he eats with a spork, because if his knife comes out, it won't go away until it has drawn blood.

hmm ,That may not have narrowed it down. It seems that as a team Inter like to keep the side of their heads cool.

No, i think it may have been an unusual slow motion of Icardi in high dudgeon. he doesn't look like that normally.

A bunch of them seem to have adopted that style for this match

The national team have missed the summer party and needs to rebuild. But in all reality it was done on the first day of the season. I still watch Roma each week but it's mostly out of habit since I know the league is set until other teams can build stadia that will inject the kind of cash that could lead to some competition for a title. The talk by the ESPN announcers in the US was that Manolas is expected to be sold to Juve during the off-season. Basically every other club in the league is just a feeder.

Torino continue their push for a Champions League place with a 3-2 win over Sassuolo. Two goals in two minutes from Zaza and a stunning bicycle kick from Belloti turned it around in the last 10 minutes. Would be hilarious if both Torino & Atalanta cliamed the last 2 Champions League spots.

The 36th matchday was completed today with Inter beating Chievo and Bologna having its way with Parma (4-1)

So, with two matches to play, there is still a lot of uncertainty.

Juventus won the title weeks ago, and we know that Napoli will finish second, but here are the teams just below them (the final top two will go to the Champions League, the next two to the Europa League, and the last two to the beach).

                                        Inter 66
                                        Atalanta 65
                                        Milan 62
                                        Roma 62
                                        Torino 60
                                        Lazio 58

At the bottom, Chievo and Frosinone are down, but there are still seven clubs that could accompany that pair

                                        Cagliari 40
                                        Bologna 40
                                        Fiorentina 40
                                        Parma 38
                                        Udinese 37
                                        Genoa 36
                                        Empoli 35

Recall that the first tiebreaker in Italy is head-to-head, so goal difference is less important than it is elsewhere. And given the sheer number of possible ties, I'm not going to go through all the possible permutations now.

And in other news, the official FIGC decision in the Palermo case came down today and it couldn't have been worse for the club.

They have been immediately relegated to the bottom of this season's Serie B table (if the decision holds, the record books may show them with zero points).

So instead of having the best position in the promotion playoffs, they will be starting next season in Serie C. Their automatic relegation saves Salernitana and Venezia from having to contest the "playout" to see which of them would be relegated, and means that Perugia (who had been ninth before all this) now will participate in the promotion playoffs.

Needless to say, Palermo will appeal, but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to do so before matches have been played. As a result, even if they eventually prevail on appeal, the remedy will be a post facto administrative modification of the composition of next season's Serie B. As increasingly seems to be the case every year, we won't know for sure who will contest Serie B until it starts (and given what happened this season in Serie C, perhaps not even then).

Lazio seal the Coppa Italia with a second goal on the stroke of 90 minutes.

                                              Allegri's leaving Juve. Interesting!

Pochettino would only go there if there was a coherent plan backed with big money. I'm not sure Juventus could deliver on that.

Oh, is that the rumour then?

TBH I'm more interested in where Allegri will end up.

This has been going on for some time, with "summit meetings" among the principals for the last week or so.

Allegri wanted a new contract, more money and more say on signings; Juve weren't willing to meet his demands.

Simone Inzaghi is rather more likely than Pochettino. There aren't a lot of clubs that have the money that Allegri is looking for (10 million euro p.a.)
