There was quite a good interview with him in the last United We Stand. Seems like an interesting fella. Wrote 11 books in 16 years, then fucked it off to work in Sainsburys. Didn't write a word for 15 years, then suddenly writes a novel. The protagonist is a former writer turned supermarket worker with an alcohol problem, which possibly explains why he took a while out of writing...
