Oh it'll be us careering out of the division. We've looked abject these last few weeks and with most of the squad out of contract and our three main players (who aren't) almost certainly off over the summer whatever happens I think we're on for being rolled over by both Accrington and Scunthorpe.

Like Wimbledon we had our post-Christmas spurt away from danger but consecutive games at the end of March when we lost leads in injury time seems to have completely deflated us.

Barnsley were certainly the most impressive team seen at Home Park this season mind. No real complaints about today,

How funny would it be if Sunderland and Portsmouth ended up in the play offs and both fucked them up?

I'd have a little giggle at that. I'd be surprised if one of them didn't win the playoffs though.

I wouldn't be too worried about playing Bradford City, I think Bowyer's just trying to work out who's worth keeping next season.

I wouldn't be bothered if the answer was nobody, but there are 16, mostly useless, players under contract for next season.

              Well done Wimbledon.

The Plymouth-Scunthorpe mutual draw/fix is still on for the final day. More likely to be winner takes all, though.

Bloody hell, what on earth happened there?! I've had to piece together the events of the 93rd minute equaliser from videos on the way home because it was all a blur. The scenes in the away end and at the final whistle really showed it's importance but the momentum really has to be kept up and cranked up because it's still only a point towards safety and the fourth draw in a row.

What a draw though, what a point. Overrun for much of the first hour with the first equaliser being the only shot on target in that period. Luton's failure to wrap the game up (largely due to an inspired display from Bournemouth loanee keeper Aaron Ramsdale) meant that the final third of the game saw Wimbledon push forward repeatedly, helped by the introduction of more attack-minded substitutes.

I thought the chances had gone by stoppage time though, credit to 19 year old wing back Toby Sibbick for carrying on right until the end and creating two great chances - the second of which was the equaliser

Someone has run the permutations and Salop could still get relegated with 50 points. Monday's defeat could be seen as that pivotal misfortunate moment that such disasters hinge on.

League One really ought to run with a three-team play-offs this season, given how little Peterborough or ourselves seem to feel compelled to really grab hold of sixth place.

But I'm more shocked, being unfamiliar with the Wasps move to Coventry, that a rugby club can just take over a former football stadium that had been built in large part by public money. WTF went on there? (Sorry for being so out of the loop)

Wasps are (kind of) the good guys - I found David Conn's article from Saturday's Guardian useful, it's easy to lose track, especially as SISU are such shits.

There is absolutely no fucking way Wasps are "the good guys" in this, they're a franchise just like Milton Keynes and trying to make profit on a property deal with someone else's stadium.

Well our spell of tossing sixth place about like a toddler with a balloon, began with us rolling over limply at Kingsmeadow so you know, you're actually welcome.

On a rule of thumb basis, what are the expected returns for vulture funds? Is it akin to venture capital (and I know there is variance based on your investment aims and stages of investment) where you lose your money on more than you win but when you win, you win big? Or is it more predictable in returns but you find it difficult to look in the mirror afterwards?

I thought Vulture Funds were more likely asset strippers than actual investors.

Sure, presumably they run a model on the asset they are about to strip before they take on the asset though (or finance something which could conceivably end up with them controlling the asset). It is the ones who specialise in it that I'm curious about

The Wiki on Vulture Funds is pretty good

It isn't really possible to give an estimated return, because they a) they differ considerably, largely due to who is calling the shots, and b) more importantly, their returns are so volatile. As ekw notes, their fundamental model is to make very long shot bets, and they aggressively use all legal means at their disposal to improve their odds of "winning",which means that their expenses are greater and their time horizon longer than investors in other asset classes.

Doing it well (as Elliot Management, which now owns Milan, does) requires great dedication, bags of money, and patience and a focus on winning at all costs without the slightest concern for the "collateral consequences" that borders on the sociopathic (and can sometimes cross that border).

The returns can be stratospheric. Elliot settled one set of their Argentine claims for USD 2.4 billion, having paid less than USD 120 million for the bonds in question.

Thanks ursus, Wilbur Ross gets mentioned occasionally here as an example of a vulture funder but I think that is unfair given he took risk and just had a different valuation of Bank of Ireland (which admittedly factored in the impact of his own investment).

We have a very good friend who has worked with Ross.

He is much more of an old school investor focused on distressed assets than a "vulture".

Advantage Luton after the first 45 minutes, as their rivals are all drawing, with Sunderland v Portsmouth the key fixture.
