    AGM Cup 2018

Some team news ahead of Friday's Conference North AGM Cup Final...

Nuneaton look to be struggling to fulfil the criteria for participation next season.

Given the FA's "no reprieves" stance, Nuneaton dropping out could potentially see...
    - Hendon promoted to the National League South
    - Gloucester transferred to the National League North
    - Wimbourne promoted to the Southern League Premier
    - FC Romania promoted to the Isthmian South Central
    - Hertford or Marlow transferred into the Southern League East

Yay! (But I'd rather Nuneaton continued...)

Hang on, Hendon don't have the highest ppg - that's wrong. It's...
        - King's Lynn promoted to the National League North
        - Wimbourne promoted to the Southern League Premier West
        - Banbury transferred into the Southern League Premier Central
        - FC Romania promoted to the Isthmian South Central
        - Hertford or Marlow transferred into the Southern League East

Is the no reprieves stance a new thing?

I think it might be a "this season only" thing?

              Unlucky Gainsborough, in that case!

My understanding is the rule is no reprieves for teams who came bottom, as in the lower leagues only one team was going down due to the new format. That doesn't apply here.

I think Gainsborough will be reprieved. Whoever the most northern team in the new Southern Central (don't have a map to hand) would then be moved north, and Banbury into the Central to accommodate Wimborne.

Thought I saw somewhere that "no reprieves for teams finishing bottom" is also going to be a policy going forward. Harrogate Railway Athletic have certainly had a reprieve in the NCEL Premier - they came third bottom and were saved from relegation by Rainworth MW taking a voluntary drop.

Most northern team in the Southern Central would be Kings Lynn Town, but they'd have some absolutely humongous journeys in the NPL (500+ mile round trip to Workington being the highlight) so Coalville Town or Hednesford Town might get switched over instead.

Shaw Lane's withdrawal means that all this happens, I think

                    - King's Lynn moved into the Northern Premier League
                    - Wimbourne promoted to the Southern League Premier West
                    - Banbury transferred into the Southern League Premier Central
                    - FC Romania promoted to the Isthmian South Central
                    - Hertford or Marlow transferred into the Southern League East

If Nuneaton fold, and Gainsborough get reprieved

                      - Cambridge City will be promoted to the Southern League Premier Central
                      - Stowmarket will be promoted to the Isthmian 1 North
                      - Soham Town Rangers will be moved to the Southern League East

Shaw Lane disappearing has led to Fleet Town being moved to the South West division. It means trips from Surrey to Bideford and Barnstaple rather than Bedfont and Bracknell. They've appealed the decision.

Perhaps not AGM related news, but Highmoor Ibis in the Hellenic League have changed their name to Reading City. While it's true that Reading isn't a city, re-naming themselves to Reading Town was always a non-starter as that club disbanded a few years ago. In fact Highmoor play at their old ground.

Hednesford Town got shifted to the NPL rather than King's Lynn. They've appealed on the basis that they've spent the last few weeks recruiting players in the expectation of playing in the Southern League. Remains to be seen how sympathetic the FA are to this argument given that they were in the NPL last season anyway.

Nuneaton are definitely in the Conference North next season. In a deal that in no way seems odd, the Port Vale chairman has bought their ground, which apparently has given them the necessary financial conditions to continue.

Hednesford have lost their appeal and will be in the NPL next season.
