The Southern Central is also fed by the Isthmian North.

So the Isthmian now extends into the South, and the Southern includes the Midlands. Hope that's cleared that up.

Obviously the Midland League already exists, but in the style of the North, there could've been a Midland Premier League set up as another way of achieving this...

Is that quite right? Farnborough and Hartley Wintney are both Southern League Premier South, but would be Isthmian in those maps.

Or maybe it's just my eyes. Not sure about exactly where they'd sit in the map.

They are the provisional maps from earlier in the year, and they always have to shuffle teams near the boundaries to get the numbers to add up.

If you think Step 3/4 allocation has been confusing, check out the 2003-04 Isthmian league playoffs, when the Conference North and South were created. Isthmian South champions Lewes had to play three playoff games and earned a double promotion...

Kettering were in the Isthmian? Far out (literally)

Oof, Wisbech - promoted from the United Counties - have been put in the NPL1E. That's going to hurt.
I don't think so, there are plenty of teams nearby in that division- if anything its the two Northern league promoted sides who look geographically isolated.

Ah, yes, have just found a map of it.

Met Police clearly unhappy about being moved. Not that there will be a lot of sympathy, I'm sure.

Remember Bishop's Stortford moaning about being placed in the Conference North a few seasons back because they where the 22nd most Northerly Step 2 side. London clubs are terrible for expecting the pyramid to arrange itself for their convenience.

You'd have thought some people might prefer trips to Devon or Wales than Hendon or Canvey.

I imagine that privatising care homes, slashing district council workforces and selling people's farmland from under them were all eliminated in the group stages.

At step three level, you've generally got about twenty supporters who'll go anywhere, and the rest who won't travel further than ten miles, and only if it's on a bus route.

I know, for example, that the Hitchin hard core will miss their trips to Merthyr (assuming we're in the Midland section of the SLP). Partly because they were usually evenly matched affairs, but somehow goalie Michael Johnson managed to channel the spirit of Gil Merrick, and saved almost everything they threw at him. Merthyr's fans recognised this and began a succession of "'Ee's done it again!" frustration chants. Really good rivalry between both groups of supporters.

tbf the last time the met police's "fans" went to south wales was probably during the miner's strike, so they're unlikely to be particularly welcome.

Parma are approximately 20 minutes away from a return to Serie A - trailing Frosinone by two points at the start of the night, the Gialloblu lead Spezia 2-0, while their rivals trail Foggia 1-0. Parma now have a goal difference advantage of three, making a draw of zero value to Frosinone.

                                          Frosinone promptly go 2-1 up.

Late drama - Foggia equalise in the 89th minute, so Parma are promoted on goal difference!

Their third consecutive promotion, following their liquidation and relegation to Serie D in 2015.

Welcome back Parma, after all the misery.

The Brolin/Asprilla/Zola team a few years before that weren't too bad either. The ECWC final was the ultimate George Graham 1-0.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this as it's technically not an up or down, but CFR Cluj have just won the Romanian championship pipping FCSB (notSteaua) by one point. Woohoo

CFR Cluj are coached by Sheffield Wednesday's Dan Petrescu. Double woohoo
