The 1970-71 season in European football

Yes, it's Brian Glanville's World Football Yearbook is to blame, and while most clubs present and correct are the old reliables, some would strain the memory banks of the keenest anorak - Atvidabergs may be familiar to some, but TJ Gottwaldow, Göztepe and Pezoporikos Larnaca will be new to most, as will Ilves-Kissat and Angouleme. Meanwhile, La Gantoise changed their name to Gent at the end of that very season.

Would all the British clubs who have played in Europe be recognizable to an overseas follower of the Game? Do all of them still exist?

The most obscure British team to play in Europe is probably Borough United, from Llandudno Junction. They won the Welsh Cup in 1963, qualifying for the Cup Winners Cup in which they beat Sliema Wanderers before losing to Slovan Bratislava. They folded before the end of the decade after being evicted from their ground by nuns.
