Anyone got any midweek matchgoing plans?

Final score Port Talbot 3 AFC Porth 1 through to the 2nd round of the league cup. Only notable for the 2nd half played under only 3/4s of the floodlights and the sight of ground staff running around at half time looking for the keys to the generator shed . Next up in the cup an away tie at Aberbargoed Buds Not a bad performance from a team with a completely new management, only two players left from last season and a bunch of academy players and the spectre of match fixing in the air.

Trencin 0 Rapid Vienna 4 in EL qualifier last night. It's the fifth time Trencin have played a leg of a European tie in Zilina (40 miles from home) and they haven't won one yet. In three of the previous ties, they've had a better result at the opposition's ground. That might happen this time too, but there's no way they'll score five in Vienna. Rapid made them look hopelessly naive.

Englishman Jamie Lawrence played the holding midfield role for Trencin. Other than a couple of decent long passes early on, he really struggled. It must be hard in that position when your team is devoted to a relentless pressing game, but the opposition are just so much stronger.

Rapid's fans were some of the loudest I've heard for a long time, with German versions of Super Trouper and Rivers of Babylon among the repertoire. Apparently, they have 200 different fan clubs, and 'friendships' with FC Nuremberg and Ferencvaros amongst others.

Been to four matches this week:
Monday - Willaston 2-5 Neston Nomads (West Cheshire Two)
Tuesday - Altrincham Hale 4-2 Govan Athletic (Manchester One)
Wednesday - Horwich St Mary's Victoria 5-0 Bury GSOB (Lancashire Amateur Premier)
Thursday - Grappenhall Sports 5-3 Halebank (Cheshire One)

Quite a bit of poor defending on display.
