    FA COMPETITIONS 2016/17

Early round draws for FA Cup/Trophy/Vase have now been made but my attempts to link to them seem doomed to failure. They are out there though. Just saying.

Cheers. First thought is that Salisbury v Hereford could be a record gate for the preliminary round of the trophy.

142 Bashley or Horndean v Sholing or Bournemouth

Seems a bit tough for a Premiership team?

That'll be Bournemouth FC, often known as Bournemouth Poppies. They've been called Bournemouth since 1889 when Bournemouth Arabs and Bournemouth Rovers merged.

Imagine if there was a team now called Bournemouth Arabs!

Thanks to Lincoln Moorlands Railway going bust a week before the season ended, Knaresborough miss out on the FA Cup as their points per game average dropped below the cut off. If Lincoln's record hadn't been expunged then Knaresborough would have made it.

Mildly amused to see Sheffield were drawn away at Ramsbottom United in both the Cup and Trophy.

I can't decide whether to back West Allotment Celtic or Brimscombe & Thrupp for this year's FA Cup.

Brimscombe & Thrupp are surely a firm of solicitors.
