    Copa America: Quarterfinals and Beyond

    First side of the bracket:

    6/16 - USA v. Ecuador (Seattle)
    6/18 - Argentina v. Venezuela (Foxborough, MA)

    Other side of the bracket:
6/17 - Colombia v. Peru (East Rutherford, NJ)
6/18 - Mexico v. Chile (Santa Clara, CA)

Reminder that QFs and SFs in Copa America go straight to penalty kicks, no extra time.

Prediction for the final: Argentina v. Mexico

If Colombia-Mex was in Jersey, I would bet 1 x 10 100th power on Colombia.

    In Chicago, not so sure.

Basically, for Peru to beat Colombia in East Rutherford is the same as asking them to win in East Medellín or West Bogota. Sad, because they're a very fucking good team that's about to burst.

Chicago may have the greatest concentration of Mexicans north of Los Angeles.

Soldier Field is gonna be green if they get there.

Santa Clara should be a huge homefield advantage for Mexico as well.

Not saying the contest is rigged, but USA (and Ecuador) get two extra days off if they go through.

Admittedly, if they face Argentina, they may need a month of Sundays.

            The place: Seattle.
The time: About 55 minutes*. (9:30ish prompt EST)
            The game: USA v Ecuador.

US goes into this with an extra day of rest, and would hope that it helps against a not-too-shabby Ecuador side.

Showing the American Outlaws "March To The Match"™.

I suppose they mean well, but I suspect that the organisation are knobheads, to a man.

I shared a bar in Nashville with some of them a few years ago, which was the first I'd ever heard of them. They pretty much are.

Belting header by Dempsey, after some good work, and a lovely dinked cross, gives USA USA the lead.

America really good value, and maybe should have had another.

                    1-0 Half-time.

                              2-0.

Excellent run by Wood, crossed in, headed on, tapped in. Zardes.

*Husband notes that it was going in anyway, and Zardes nicked it from Dempsey.

Hell, I was thinking Dempsey's last match was at Brazil 2014, but he's still got it. Zardes tapin for 2-0.

Shame that Wood is out for semi. He is a serious workhorse.

I called the American Outlaws, knobheads, earlier. I should retract that*, as they have a big rainbow flag over their banner.

*But have the option of restating it, at a later date.

Bradley has a rainbow captains armband as well. They also had a moment of silence for the Orlando victims before kickoff.

2-1 Arroyo with a daisy cutter, 20 yarder.

And Bedoya misses the next match.

The head of the Seattle chapter was quoted publicly as his people needing to teach the rest of the US how to properly sing, chant, and support.
