Born 1968. One of those "fuck, he's younger than me", moments.

This is a shame. He wasn't particularly good, but he was likeable.

Only 47 and had the attack while jogging, poor lad. Hope he pulls through.

Yeah, this. He certainly wasn't the best keeper I've ever seen at Wednesday, but he came across as engaging and thoughtful in interviews.

With the passing of Springett, Betancourt, Dropsy and Hodgkinson it's been a bad year for keepers. Let's hope Srnicek makes a full recovery.

                  Banks isn't too well either.

There seems to be many 'younger' keepers who have passed, maybe seems disproportionate as I am a keeper fanatic and remember them more.

Dunno why I got that wrong, only seems like I read the excellent Guardian piece on his death yesterday.

I don't believe that Luke MCCormick is dead.

Really sad news, seems that they turned off his life support.

Wikipedia's great for catching up on the careers players had once you lose track of them. I had no memory of Srnicek playing in Italy, albeit sporadically, with Brescia and Cosenza after he left Sheffield Wednesday.

The only regular football he got post 2000 was with Beira Mar in Portugal between 2004 and 2006. A sad loss.

Additions to the rather morbid list...
Les Sealey was another who died of a heart attack in his 40s, while Dale Roberts was another who took his own life in his 20s.

And William "Fatty" Foulke was only 42 when he died of "cirrhosis".

I see The Reverend has mentioned him upthread, but I read an obit of Martin Fulop in Backpass yesterday which made me think of this thread.

                                      He was only 32.

I'm reading 'Pavel Is a Geordie', his autobiography. He hints at some very interesting things about Pep Guardiola and nandrolone from when they played together at Brescia.

Also he hated, hated, hated Kenny Dalglish.
