Er, no. I never saw that thread originally, strangely.

It came up because Timmy's name was on a team sheet for a Fulham v Norwich u23 game I saw a year ago today that I took a photo of which flashed up as a Facebook memory.

I hadn't spotted it at at the time or I could have avoided being gazumped on the fascinating fact regarding him and his sibling.

I put it in the CONCACAF WCQ thread, but this may be a better place

        There is also an update

It seems like the sort of thing that would put a continents second tier competition into disrepute.

Reading more though it may have been better in a CONCACAF thread as I am full of questions as to why no US teams are in the league and also the expansion of the Champions League to 50 teams

            Both clubs removed from competition.

Whoa indeed. Hell's bells. Hope the player on the receiving end was OK after that.

There's a few 'after' tweets where the goalie expresses his remorse (have a peek, he's quite overcome*). The victim has a lasting imprint but is back playing...

I like the bit at the start about how "grounded" David Stockdale is, whilst wearing a big bling watch in the background. And then you scroll down to the, what I can only describe as, Bond-villain (with pretentions of being Bond), pictures with flash suits, cigars, leather chairs and chess sets.

                                This seemed the right thread ;

It’s time to change the game.

The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game?

With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take team and country back to the promised land.

Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Mother) plays Gareth Southgate in this new play by James Graham (Best of Enemies, Sherwood). Following their acclaimed productions, Tammy Faye and Ink, he reunites with director Rupert Goold (Spring Awakening, Judy) for this gripping examination of both nation and game.

The grammar's awful, too. Gareth Southgate might have famously seen one particular spot kick saved, but it's unfair to say he personally has 'the worst track record for penalties in the world'.

I, er, dunno which thread this should go in.

                                      https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-for-liverpool

A former child actor who appeared in a TV advert for milk in the 1980s has been given a life sentence for murder.

Kevin Spaine wore a Liverpool football kit in the commercial for the Milk Marketing Board in 1989 and uttered the famous line “Accrington Stanley, who are they?”

He was convicted on Tuesday of killing Learoy Venner by repeatedly punching and kicking him in an assault at a flat in Anfield, Liverpool, in July 2022.
