      Playoffs 2015

This is me walking into the thread, looking smugly around, then walking out whistling. For the first time in five years.

Curzon Ashton beat Ashton United on penalties last night, and Ilkeston beat Workington. This is karma for sooooo many reasons. Couldn't be more made up if I tried.

                Think it's

Hendon (or possibly Maidstone) v Enfield (or possibly Dulwich or possibly Met Police)
Margate v Dulwich (or possibly Enfield)

Thanks - how do Maidstone come back into it? Aren't they up as champions?

The Triangle must mean Margate, Maidstone are definitely up.

I do fear the fix is in for the Met.

It's possible the Hendon v Enfield match might get replayed. In the unlikely event that Hendon win by a landslide, they'd win the title over Maidstone.

It's really unlikely (particularly as Enfield would have something to play for) but equally really dodgy stuff does sometimes happen in end-of-season non-league matches.

The only way Royston were going to lose was on penalties. They have apparently gone 1163 minutes since conceding a goal from open play, a run that dates back to Feb 24th. They have conceded some goals in that time, four to be precise (discounting last night's shoot out), but all came from the spot. That added up to 10 wins and 1 draw, prior to last nights shoot-out defeat.

Form doesn't matter in the play-offs, does it?

Yeah, decided to have a quick look at the Crow's take on matters.

First article full of joy and excitement at the second place finish and the unbeaten run. "Full credit must go to Steve Castle and Chris Watters and their professional back room staff for their unwillingness to let this season get away from them – guiding a fantastic squad of talented and determined players to the highest ever league finish in Royston’s 140 year playing history."

                            Second article simply said 'bugger'.

Harsh on Poole, who could have been champions had they drew at home on Saturday. Instead, it's two defeats in four days, and staying down they are.

Dunno - could be either, couldn't it?

My Name Is Ian has posted on the Ryman thread that Enfield have only been given a warning, no deduction, so the Ryman Premier playoffs should proceed with the teams as originally listed. Just not sure when.

That post isn't quite saying that, Kev. It's saying that a warning only was the FA's recommendation (which was reached last week) and it seems that the Ryman League hasn't yet acted upon it.

                                      The club's response:

The FA has produced and published on its website a written statement following the Regulatory Commission hearing on Wednesday 22nd April 2015

The FA has produced its written statement of reasons for their hearing decision last week click here to see the F.A. Charges for April 2015 (scroll down to Wednesday 22nd April) which were seen by the Club on Sunday.

The Club were given until 11am on Monday to comment. Despite the short notice the Club responded on Sunday evening, pointing out material and factual inaccuracies. In particular, the cross-examination of the Club Secretary that clarified the check of the FA system is not reflected. Despite our objections, the FA went ahead and published their reasons yesterday.

In their reasons the FA claimed a check of their Member Services database would have identified the problem. Our player Aryan Tajbakhsh was suspended following the hearing last week. However, checks on the database on Monday 27th April and Tuesday 28th April by Club officials revealed that, according to that database, he is "Clear" to play. Confused? You bet we are!

                                          Playoffs 2015

Meanwhile, the Ryman League put out a statement on the matter yesterday as well:

The Football Association has ruled that both Ryman League Premier Division Play-Off Semi-Finals due to be played this Thursday should be postponed until the situation surrounding Enfield Town FC is clarified.

The FA's decision follows the Ryman League being advised that a charge of playing a player who should have been suspended had been made and proven by The FA against Enfield Town FC.

The Ryman League has charged Enfield Town FC with playing an ineligible player and the club has requested a personal hearing which will be heard this week.

The matter was referred to The FA because Ryman League rules make provision for matters concerning promotion to be decided by the Leagues Committee of The FA. The Ryman League itself is not empowered to make such a decision.

All five clubs involved have been informed of the FA's decision and will continue to be kept informed of developments by the Ryman League. The Ryman League will issue a further statement in due course.

Almost certainly North - they're further north than Brackley and Oxford City, and more central than Lowestoft.
