    Tragedy at Zamalek v ENPPI

It looks there has been another awful tragedy at an Egyptian league game today. 14 confirmed dead, more are sadly expected.

This link has some disturbing images, but is one of the most balanced English language sources of news in Egypt.

It looks like those fans on that page have been crushed. It wouldn't surprise me if the police fired tear-gas and opened fire. A few friends of mine have attended "closed door" Zamalek games. Basically, word gets round that doors might be open and you queue outside, sometimes they open the gates up, sometimes they don't. When they do, the atmosphere is supposedly incredible and inviting, with many of the ultras wanting to have their banners photographed by westerners who had gone to the game.

Common Egyptian people are the nicest people I've ever met, they don't deserve this sh*t.

Fans had to pass through this to enter the stadium:

      Reports now of 30 dead.

The authorities will be eager to sweep this under the carpet as quickly as possible. Or just blame the fans who will no doubt be described as enemies of Egypt or terrorists.

        Horrific

The UWK are Zamalek ultras? Are they considered political?

Looks like that's already underway, with this from your link above:

According to eye-witnesses, the violence started after fans attempted to storm the stadium without purchasing tickets.

Ultras White Knights, they're very political in terms of murals around Cairo, banners at the stadiums and such like. However, they don't have the force in numbers of Ultras Ahly to block off whole areas of the city or stop the entire metro network with their protests.
