Return of the Kun - weekend football

steveeeeeeeee wrote: There are a lot of good English strikers in the Premiership right now, aren't there? Dwight Gayle, Harry Kane and Andy Carroll all look good. The you've got Danny Ings and Charlie Austin are also impressive, but doubt they're national team class.

Apologies if the above point has already been picked up by Football Focus.
They have mentioned it. You missed Saido Berahino, BTW.

    What a great weekend's football.

Of course they will. However, the joy of them doing so will be limited for neutral numpties like me. It'll be the equivalent of being made to watch Iain Duncan Smith and Chris Grayling being given lots of free money, beautiful girls and beer.
This is a righteously excellent statement.

Did Pat Murphy really say "One of David Pleat's favourite words is milky" or did I imagine it? He definitely referred to Rosický's "lovely head of hair" in the second half, which was sweet.

How can they fail to win it, given how ordinary everyone else is?

The only vaguely acceptable and vaguely possible winners of the Premiership these days are the Arse.

Man United are going to win the league this year. Chelsea will bottle it like they did last year, and Man City are already collapsing like a pack of cards like they did in 2013.

I've got a tenner on it. A whole tenner.

And that "Manchester fellates Sheik Mansour" banner. Or whatever it says.

Just found out that for all the billions City have invested in the team, the facilities and East Central Manchester (there are now 4 leisure centres for every one child in Beswick) the beer they sell to their fans is Foster's. That's the contempt the Sheikh holds the great unwashed in. Foster's. Unreal.

That's true, Mumpo. Today's Premier League players encompass many aspects of the modern athlete: the vision, the physical prowess, the quicksilver reaction to any given situation, but, more than all of these virtues, the correct physical and mental recreation of being clocked in the back by a heavy, brutal piece of historical weaponry.

kompany thinks he's playing pub sumo wrestling

That said, the fall for the penalty was of the kind that if you were in a busy city centre and you were in a rush, you could expertly manoeuvre your physicality to avoid the person who suddenly sprang up in front of you. Then again, it's the PL, money and prestige is involved, and it's in the penalty box, so....(player goes down as if hit in the back with imaginary scimitar)

I see OTF favourite, Mr S F Downing, got another.

That Spurs offside was described on Sky this morning as the sort of decision given in a Sunday League match when the opposition manager is running the line.

Last summer was the time for Hull to give bruce the boot. He has the skillset to get a team so far, but his crippling limitations then start to get in the way, and it can all spiral out of control very quickly. THey're taking a bit of a beating at west Ham, and are plummeting like a stone

And I've got a feeling this Anders Limpar goal was the 1991-92 winner.

ITV had a Goal of the Season competition in each of their years with the league contract.

1989-90 winner - Robert Rosario in a 4-4 between Norwich and Southampton.

1990-91 winner - Roy Wegerle for QPR at Leeds.
