    End of an era

The last surviving Hungarian player from the 6-3 win over England, Jeno Buzanszky is, errrm, no longer surviving. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/jeno-buzanszky-last-mighty-magyars-dies-89-205840093.html#yfOdQs6

    End of an era

Most English fans have heard of that 6-3 win, as it is often referenced as England's first (and probably to date biggest) defeat at Wembley. Less-mentioned is that England went to Budapest the following year and got hammered 7-1, with Tom Finney in the side.

How Hungary failed to win that 1954 final will remain one of football's enduring mysteries.

I think there are a fair number of convincing reasons that are very well known, which taken together at least go some way to explaining it

        End of an era

It's more frequently referenced as england's first home defeat by a 'foreign team', which it isn't. Not by four years. The footage of the game shows that one team is 20-30 years ahead of the other in terms of technique, tactics and preparation, and It's not the team that conceded 13 goals.
