Monday was a busy day in both divisions, with some important results, and the first managerial departure in the top flight.

Bohemians stay top with a 5.0 victory over Cork City, after which Cork boss Colin Healy got into a heated row with a couple of Cork fans.

Shamrock Rovers won the battle of the title favourites, beating Derry City 2.0, Richie Towell and Jack Byrne the scorers with Derry missing a late penalty

St Patrick's Athletic were beaten at home 0.1 by Sligo Rovers , a result which saw Pat's manager Tim Clancy leaving " by mutual consent ". Former Dundee United and Rangers striker Jon Daly is the favourite to take over.

Dundalk beat UCD 2.0, a result that allowed them to leapfrog Shelbourne , who had to settle for a 1.1 draw with Drogheda United.

In the First Division, the last 100% record is gone, runaway leaders Galway United were beaten 1.0 away to Longford Town. However, neither challengers Waterford or Bray Wanderers could close the gap , both losing at home, 0.1 to Wexford FC and 0.3 to Treaty United respectively. Finn Harps post relegation woes continue with a 1.4 defeat to Athlone Town, while Kerry fc wait for a first win following a defeat to Cobh Ramblers, also by a 4.1 scoreline.

Much change at Cork City this week, with Liam Buckley becoming director of football and Colin Healy reportedly resigning as manager tonight.

          Matchday 14

As the top two meet in Tallaght, Derry City try to get back to winning ways, and the rest fight to avoid getting cut adrift.

          Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians

For once, a Dublin derby that should live up to the hype, as first play second in a game that already could be significant in the title race. Bohs have shown that this is more than just a good start, with more points at this stage of the season than when we last won the title in 2009. Rovers are more than making up for their poor start, and come into this one on a 5 game winning streak. Main talking point is the injury to Rovers goalkeeper Alan Mannus, a broken finger ruling him out for a few weeks. Stephen Bradley says he has faith in reserve keeper Pohls, but the German has only played half a dozen games in 3 years
Bohs were boosted last time out by the return of Ally Coote and Jordan Flores, my Rovers supporting colleague says he'd take a draw now, so would I. Draw

          Drogheda United v Derry City

Derry's title aspirations have taken a hit recently, with home defeats to the two teams above them. They have a chance to hit back at Bohs next week, but before that they face Drogheda. The home side got a draw on Monday, following a couple of defeats, although the Candystripes, even without a number of key players, should be too strong Away Win

          Shelbourne v UCD

Shels will have been disappointed to only draw away to Drogheda last week, a lack of cutting edge up top has hampered them all season. UCD are beginning to find form, and a win tonight could bring them level with Cork tonight. I think Shelbourne will edge this one though Home Win

Cork City v St Patrick's Athletic

It's Dublin opposition for the third game in a row tonight for the Leesiders, although at least this one's at home. It's also a battle of the managerless sides, Pat's Tim Clancy and Cork's Colin Healy both " resigning " on Tuesday. Both need a lift, I think St Patrick's have better personnel to do so. Away Win

Sligo Rovers v Dundalk ( Saturday)

The best of the rest meet up in the Showgrounds as 4th plays 5th. Even at this early stage, these two need to keep winning to put pressure on the teams above them. On form so far there's been little to choose between them. Based merely on home advantage I'm going for a Home Win

Shamrock Rovers cut the gap to 1 point following a 2.0 victory over Bohemians, who had a blatant penalty turned down at 1.0. Derry stay third having won 1.0 away to Drogheda, while Shelbourne beat UCD by the same score and St Pats edged out Cork City 3.2

I scored a goal! We beat them handily, which was not a good sign as we were not very good, even for 11 year olds. Wiki tells me they withdrew from the league in 1982. It's mad that there was no mention or talk of this less than 10 years later.

                    Matchday 15

1st plays 3rd and 2nd plays 10th as Bohs and Rovers hope to stay ahead

                    Bohemians v Derry City

Three weeks ago Bohs had a 7 point lead at the top. Now it's down to one, and they could possibly find themselves in 3rd place on Saturday morning. The positive for the home side is they played well against Rovers last week, and hopefully a reasonably competent referee will be appointed.

Derry haven't kicked on with the return of injured players as they would have hoped, and the news about striker Colm Whelan doesn't look good. However they are tight behind the top two, and a victory here would put them right in the mix. I'll say in hope a Home Win

                    UCD v Shamrock Rovers

After last week's victory, Rovers travel to Belfield hoping to go top for the first time this season. The Students will fight the good fight, but it's got to be an Away Win

St Patrick's Athletic v Drogheda United

Two teams in need of a boost meet at Richmond Park. Last week St Pats just about shaded it against Cork City, while Drogheda were frustrated again, losing 1.0 to Derry City. Has to be a Home Win

                    Dundalk v Cork City

Cork showed a lot of fight against St Patrick's last week, and would consider themselves unlucky not to get something out of it. Dundalk are looking good in fourth place and should be good for a Home Win

Sligo Rovers v Shelbourne ( Saturday)

The punters nightmare here, as the two most inconsistent sides in the league clash. I'll hedge my own bets with a Draw

Due to time constraints I omitted the 1st Division last week, where Galway United beat nearest challengers Waterford to open up a 10 point gap at the top after 13 games, and Kerry FC were unlucky to lose 2.3 at home to Longford Town.

This week Galway United will hope to extend their lead at home against Wexford FC , Waterford face a tricky home game against Cobh Ramblers , Athlone Town play Kerry FC and Bray Wanderers and Finn Harps meet at the Carlisle grounds with both hoping to boost their play off places. On Saturday Longford Town host Treaty United

Remarkably, Kerry have gone 2-0 up away to Athlone - could it really be 14th time lucky?

They were pulled back to 2-2, but that first win has finally arrived!

Shamrock Rovers go top following a predictably easy 3.0 victory away to UCD. Derry City go second on goal difference over Bohemians, Ryan Graydon gets the only goal in a 1.0 win against the latter, who weren't helped by Grant Horton's red card.

More red was shown at Oriel Park, where Cork City finished with 9 players, Dundalk winning 2.1 with two goals in injury time adding insult to injury. Another two late goals gave St Patrick's Athletic a flattering looking 3.0 win against Drogheda United, who nevertheless are in a bit of a tailspin.

As noted above, Kerry FC are off the mark, Ryan Kelliher writing himself into local folklore with the winning strike, one of two he got in a 3.2 win over Athlone Town.

At the business end of the table, Galway United continue their impressive form, a 2.0 win over Wexford FC makes it 13 victories from 14. Waterford try to keep the pressure on, their predicted "tricky " fixture at home to Cobh Ramblers ending with a 5.0 win for the hosts. Bray Wanderers stay third, beating hapless Finn Harps 2.0.

With only 9 points, I'm surprised any C*rk C*ty fans want people to know how they're doing.

                                          Matchday 16

First of all, there were two games on Monday.

Having avoided a blatant penalty against them in their last home game, Shamrock Rovers were the "lucky " beneficiaries this time around, Richie Towell scoring in the 88th minute to win the game for Rovers 3.2. In the other game, Derry City had a fairly handy 3.0 win over Dundalk

                                          Tonight

                                          Cork City v Sligo Rovers

Two sides who,I think it's fair to say, have had disappointing seasons so far. The home side haven't had a promotion bounce , and sit perilously close to the automatic relegation position, Sligo aren't doing much better, although ten points clear of Cork, they are in danger of being cast adrift of the business end of the table. Cork will take some heart from a fighting performance against Dundalk last time out, which ended with a 97th minute defeat . Sligo will be eager to get a win after last week's 0.3 trouncing at home to Shelbourne.

Cork will be missing two players suspended after red cards, Sligo's injury woes aren't improving. Draw

                                          Derry City v UCD

Following last week's win away to Bohs, and Monday's victory over Dundalk, Derry have moved into second place on their own, and shouldn't have any problems making it three wins in a week against the students tonight Home Win

                                          Dundalk v Bohemians

It's third against fourth at Oriel Park, with the chasing pack closing in. Neither side are in sparkling form at the moment, the home side taking a hiding against Derry on Monday, while Bohs have lost the last two against Shamrock Rovers and Derry without scoring. I think, and hope, that Bohs are better placed to kick on, so I'll say Away Win

                                          Shelbourne v St Patrick's Athletic

Tonight's live game on TV features the other two Dublin clubs (apologies to UCD) . They currently sit fourth and fifth , and a win either way will push one of them into European contention. Shels have been solid performers, if a bit dour, so far, and last weeks win away to Sligo will give them confidence. St Pat's form has been like a lie detector result, starting with one win in five, then winning three, losing their next three, before winning four and losing on Monday. I can see a low scoring Draw

                                          Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda United

Rovers moved into top spot last weekend, and despite Derry City and Bohemians not being far behind, will be warm favourites to make it four titles in a row. Drogheda are bang out of form. Only one result here Home Win

Neil Lennon has turned down the chance to become St Patrick's Athletic manager. I'm not sure who has dodged a bullet there.

There's a new league leader, the third in seven days. Derry City go top thanks to a 4.1 victory over UCD, while Drogheda United produced a smash and grab, admittedly with two excellent goals, in a 2.1 win against Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght. Bohs came back from 2.0 down late on against Dundalk to draw 2.2, while St Pats won derby bragging rights following a 1.0 win away to Shelbourne. Finally, Cork City put distance between themselves and UCD in the relegation position after a 1.0 home win against luckless Sligo Rovers who now must be worried about dropping into the playoff position themselves.

Don't forget that you can watch highlights of all games on YouTube the following day.

In the 1st division, Galway United make it an incredible 14 wins from 15 after beating Treaty United comfortably 3.0. Waterford keep up whatever pressure they can with a 4.0 win away to a hapless Finn Harps. Bray Wanderers stay third with a 2.0 win over Kerry fc and Longford Town continue their improved form with a 3.0 win away to Wexford. Cobh Ramblers and Athlone Town draw 2.2
