A hell of a good bit of business by Lille, though. And by HSV.

HSV got him on a free from Hoffenheim, an sold him to Lille a season later for 12,8 mil Euros. A season later Lille sells him to Everton for 36 million, of which HSV will cash-in to the tune of about 5-6 million.

Even a blind chicken occasionally finds some grain.

At the beginning of the year, HSV were given over ten million euros by the Hamburg taxpayer. "Zusätzliche Lockdown-Coronahilfe". St. Pauli didn't get any extra money. Altona 93 didn't get any extra money. (Minigolf im Stadtpark didn't get any money at all.)

But HSV got ten million extra, on top of the original Coronahilfe. And yet they still managed to be broke until the Onana/Kostic money arrived.

I don't know which big club in Germany is run worst. HSV and Hertha are definitely among the top two.

Frankfurt runners-up in the European Super Cup. That makes us the second best team in Europe, right? At least it wasn't a complete humiliation like Friday night. Though I'll know we have problems if we don't get at least a point against Hertha Big City.

Eintracht will need to spend the Kostic money wisely to qualify for Europe, but Hertha are Hertha

By the way, Benedict Hollerbach (no relation) scored for Wiesbaden last night in their 4-1 home win over Bayreuth.

Dortmund 1-0 down at the half to Freiburg, who are playing in 1960s Bayern tribute kits sponsored by Cazoo, which I can't help pronouncing to rhyme with "Bahnhof Zoo"

Dortmund equalise thanks to an epic howler by Freiburg's keeper

And now take the lead with a much better goal

                  And now 3-1

This is not the fading at the end Dortmund we've seen for a few seasons. They are en fuego.

Dortmund decided to play during the last 15 minutes. Substitutions were huge. I think that last goal should have been ruled off, there were three Dortmund players surrounding the keeper and one in front, but Freiburg were done by then.

Is this the return of perennial relegation battlers Eintracht we remember from our time in FFM?

Down 1-0 to Hertha at the half.

Timo scores on his re-debut for Leipzig after one of the worst bit of goalkeeping you'll see for a while.

You saw worse goalkeeping than that last night. But yeah, Schwäbe didn't look good, even if the bounce was awkward. But then Florian Dietz, worth about a 30th of a Werner, equalised on a counter that followed Schwäbe's brilliant save off Nkunku.

The world feed of Hertha-Eintracht today "celebrated" Flekken's gaffe by highlighting the ten worst keeper howlers in Bundesliga television history.

                            This was Number One.

Paderborn - Kiel looks a fun game.

Dortmund never really showed up. They scored two nice goals but then sat back, but sat back without actually playing team defense. The last two goals were embarrassing. I thought for sure Hummels in his cement shoes was a contributor but he was on the bench. The defense that showed on MD1 against Leverkusen was a mirage.

Leverkusen's entirely heartwarming start to the season -- the first time since their promotion in 1979 that they've lost their three opening games (plus the DFB Pokal first round tie) -- suggest that the Dortmund's difficult win against them can't really be rated that highly either.

He's a referee, so he'll say the obvious thing that Dietz didn't move in an off-side position in front of the goalkeeper, and that Trapp's vision was not obviously blocked by the player in red. If his view was blocked, then it was more likely obstructed by his own defender.

I'd be more interested in his view on the incident that led to Kamada's free-kick. Was it really a foul on Kamada?

Dortmund with a 1-0 win over Hoffenheim. The goals have dried up, but I'll take the win.

                                                  Good day for football.

Red Bollocks beaten 4-0 by Frankfurt
Pills beaten at home by Freiburg
VW beaten at home by Köln

And Union held Bayern to a draw. Freiburg now tops the table.
