I said this after Mourinho's exit, but I will never understand Man Utd's refusal to contemplate Mark Hughes as an interim manager. An utter legend at the club as a player and an experienced manager who has had ups and downs with clubs than typically have ups and downs. Does anyone honestly believe Carrick would do a better job? Is there another club in the top flight that would gamble on Carrick as manager?

If you've ever listened to Danny Gabbidon talk about Hughes as his manager at QPR and then see his record at other clubs you'll see exactly why United have never gone near him. He's toxic and does very little on the training pitch.

There's a very popular and surreal comedy social media account called "JJBoce" /JJ Boss/, which is going to town over the prospect of Jorge Jesus possibly managing Man U. All totally fictitious, but it's funnier now than it has been since he won the title with Flamengo.

Laurent Blanc's been bandied about - previous links as a player, respectable managerial record but not such a big name that anyone would baulk at him being replaced by a Ten Hag or Pochettino in the summer.

"Pochettino (whose family still live in an apartment in London) is said to be open to the idea of a job at Manchester, as the train times from there to London are similar to the time it takes to get to Paris".
He's not used Northern Rail much, has he.
