I said this after Mourinho's exit, but I will never understand Man Utd's refusal to contemplate Mark Hughes as an interim manager. An utter legend at the club as a player and an experienced manager who has had ups and downs with clubs than typically have ups and downs. Does anyone honestly believe Carrick would do a better job? Is there another club in the top flight that would gamble on Carrick as manager?

If you've ever listened to Danny Gabbidon talk about Hughes as his manager at QPR and then see his record at other clubs you'll see exactly why United have never gone near him. He's toxic and does very little on the training pitch.

Doubt he be thinking that at all. He not on Man Utd radar for appointment interim or otherwise. That is not a judgement on his qualities as a manager. We will find out in due time how good he is with results at Newcastle. It more a judgement on what Man Utd will seek for next appointment. Even if they dont have a clue who it will be. Beggars belief they have effectively written off this season in November.
