Apparently Bruno Fernandes became the first player to score goals for his club in 12 consecutive months.

This reminded me that 2020 was the first calendar year since Argentine football turned professional (in 1931; it's likely that the record goes back a little further than that, but all records here just get quoted as 'in the professional era', infuriatingly) in which River Plate didn't play Boca Juniors. Their first match of the post-lockdown season took place on the 2nd January this year.

Brilliant marketing ploy. “Get a free vaccine, with every season ticket. Choose your preferred seat and at the same time, choose which arm to get your vaccination. Roll up. Roll up.

The qualifiers for this season's Champions league started before last season's final.

"This is the queue for an Argyle season ticket? I'd rather have needles stuck into me."

And other jokes of that ilk.

Instead of a prick, here's a ticket to watch lots of them.

                    etc.

This isn't going to hurt... unless you're here for a season ticket...

Due to us going on a shite run for two and a half months pre-lockdown, there were children conceived and born in the 287 day gap where Partick Thistle did not register a competitive win between defeating Morton 2-1 on 28/12/19 and our 3-0 win over Queens Park on 10/10/20.

Another quirk not so much caused but exasperated by the pandemic, the East of Scotland City Cup is a local tournament played for every year (well...) involving Edinburgh City, Berwick Rangers and the two finalists of the EOS Qualifying Cup.
and invited guests from non-league which has a habit of being held over in various years.

To give an example of the scale of how delayed this tournament is, I went to see the 17/18 final in June 2019. The final had been held over since 2017/18 on the account of both teams struggling to find time to accommodate the final as a result of Edinburgh City mounting a challenge for promotion from Scottish League 2 and East Kilbride battling for the Lowland League title. In the meantime, the draw for the 2018/19 tournament was made in anticipation of the previous year's match being completed with two semi-final matches, Berwick Rangers vs. Spartans and Edinburgh City vs. Camelon, being drawn at the EOS FA's AGM last season. Pre-pandemic, one semi final minimum was completed but definitely not the final.

To make things even more complicated, Berwick Rangers would go on a horrific run of form which lead them to being relegated from Scottish League 2. Berwick had previously automatically qualified for the City Cup by virtue of their Football League status, but this relegation prompted the EOS FA to confirm that the 2019/20 tournament would consist of Edinburgh City facing the winners of the EOS Qualifying Cup in a one-off final. So up until the pandemic, the tournament had games still to be played from the 2018/19 and 2019/20 competitions.

The EOS season was cut short after about three games this season and doesn’t look like football will be resumed until 21/22, meaning we would have FOUR seasons worth of games to play.

Logic would say that the competition is now dead but they have spent many years catching up in the past so it would not stun me to see them pull the trophy out the owner’s cupboard again like they did last time.
