spurs tried to put this into practice by transporting Rafa van der Vaart from the 70s straight into their 2010 first team.

it worked surprisingly well for the first 55 minutes of every game he played.

To be fair to Rafael van der Vaart, he played most of the second half of his career with a meniscus completely removed from one of his knees. It's a wonder he lasted 55 minutes a game.

It is amazing to think, however, that in that 2003 Ajax team, Zlatan was 18 months older than Van der Vaart, and the former is still playing in the Champions League (edit: oh no wait, Milan in the Europa League).

The New Brighton club that played in the Football League folded in 1983. A new club of the same name was formed 10 years later and played in the West Cheshire League until 2012, when that club folded.

I went to watch them quite a few times from the mid 70s to when they finally called it a day. They always had a good support whenever they were playing at Kirkby Town.
