It would help if they had something along the lines of rugby - off you go, the medical team will decide and if you fail, that's your lot. Your replacement doesn't count as a sub for the purpose of numbers allowed on in the match.
When I look back at the state of some of the guys left on the pitch during rugby matches under the "I'm/you're fine, run it off" days, especially in the pro era before it was stopped and the impacts were much harder than the amateur days, I think there are some very nasty futures in store for too many players.
