Three away wins would be very nice.

Right now it's two away ties.

Paraguay is at least showing some 1998 defending.....albeit at home.

HORRIBLE first half, SCINTILLATING DYNAMITE second half with Peru and Paraguay. 2 lead changes and a 86th minute equalizer from Peru for the 2-2 final.

Nice seeing Bobadilla, being that I saw him last year in Argentina with Sam for the Argentinos Jrs 0:2 Racing and this year for Guarani.

Uruguay and Chile are at 1-1 in the 88th.

It's the dark ages in the US. CONMEBOL is pay-per-view $40USD per match. I don't know what kind of fool is going to pay that price. The games are on 2-day delay on BeIN. I would be shocked if the rights seller makes more than $2,000USD on sales.

This article about Argentine players in Europe might be of interest to anyone reading this thread. I was going to post it in the Libertadores thread but perhaps more fitting here:

Better off expats are paying it, as are expat bars/clubs that can show the matches given restrictions.

So more than 50 per match (for at least the more popular nations), but certainly not a lot.

Ache-wah-door putting the ache on the Luiz Suarez gang 3-0.....sorry.....4-0....they're again looking like all of the ECU club teams who have been fearlessly setting fire to many huge Brazilian or Argentinian teams in the Sudamericana and Libertadores over the past few years. With Argentina beating Bolivia, that's looking like not such a bad loss.

Paraguay can't score against the Vinotintos, vice versa in the 42nd.

The nice thing about this Paraguayan team you can just set your alarm for an hour after the game starts, because all of their first halves are more entertaining watching the empty seats in the stands and their second halves are straight fire. Amazing goal, and amazing penalty save by Silva to win the game.

I can't see them qualifying with their goofy defense that can't hold a lead, but they'll make it interesting for a while.

                          AWESOME Brasil 4:2 Peru match.

2 lead changes, a ref who looked like he aged 10 years and was about to have a heart attack after dealing with Neymar's antics and Peru's anti-Neymar antics for 90 minutes; Peru getting seemingly screwed by non-VAR calls and getting 2 penals called against them and getting a VAR-RED in the dying minutes; end-to-end action with no piped-in crowd noise which only made the players and coaches and subs voices only that more dramatic; weird deflected goals and weird bounces and Neymar somehow getting a bounce off the post in between 3 Peru players to add the 4th injury time goal after putting in the cross that won the penalty around the 85th; Peru running and flying all over the pitch until they just ran out of gas.

Peru is going to be very tough at home, but like Paraguay they can't hold a lead. The way Colombia and Ecuador are lighting it up, Paraguay and Peru will have to improve their defenses somehow.

Peru's lightning strike in the 5th for the 1-0 lead.

I was astonished to read that Neymar is now Brazil's second highest scorer, edging past Ronaldo. He's 13 behind Pele, it's entirely possible he'll get that record by the end of the Qatar World Cup.

Lack of other top class Brazil strikers in that period? He's not competing against Tostao, Rivaldo etc for the goals.

He won't catch Cafu for appearances by the end of 2022.

what really annoyed me about the first penalty was that the ref was staring at neymars shirt being blatantly pulled but doesnt award the penalty until he dramatically throws himself to the floor.i mean, wtf?the refs body language in giving it was almost more theatrical than neymar, too

The ball hit Neymar's hand/arm in the challenge before the shirt pull for the first penalty so VAR should have awarded a free-kick to Peru. I thought simulation is a yellow card offence so although his shirt was pulled, shouldn't his dive resulted in a yellow card to him, even if a penalty was awarded as it came first ? One for the referees out there !

Neymar's behaviour there is hardly going to improve his public image with all the neutrals...........

Gosh, that second penalty is even worse ! Not even a foul, and Neymar predictably was in agony.

I would normally say that should be the end of the referee's career at this level but i doubt it will be. I notice he was one of the South American representatives at the 2018 World Cup, but I can't find any game he took charge of, so maybe FIFA have their reservations despite CONMEBOL thinking he is one of the continent's best ?

The 4th Brazilian goal can be seen in these highlights, which are filmed from the other side of the ground, and exclude the incidents for which the penalties were awarded........

That 1997 Dust Brothers Conmebol music shit sux. I wish they asked Morrissey when he played there last year.

Once the pandemic is over, I will certainly drive down Avenida Espa?a to the guy with elephantiasis on the corner of San Martin and make a slight left onto Avenida Aviadores del Chaco, pass Shopping Del Sol on the left and the Dazzler hotel where Ivana stayed last year, go around the circle at Autopista Silvia Pettirossi and make the right turn onto Avendia Sudamericana and march right into their offices and DEMAND they at least splurge for a new Bad Bunny track.

fatbear - I couldn't find the games on Tigo, but they were on some bizarre channel here called GEN that used that feed. The coverage was outstanding, and I wish everyone could see the feed of that game. The Peruvian fans were quite loud, wherever they were, and they applauded loud at the end because Peru gave everything and kind of got slightly screwed.

Is anyone still "neutral" regarding Neymar? He's the Klinsmann of the last 10 years in terms of overt unapologetic cheatery. His scoring record looks impressive but what's his ratio to chances created?
