He was the manager of Carmarthen Town when he got done for fraud. It was a complicated scheme revolving around player transfers IIRC

Blimey, what a story. Trafod Tactegau sounds like one of this Romanian teams in the qualifying rounds of the Uefa Cup (isn't Welsh related to some eastern European language?). Probably a good time for non-natives in Wales to start learning Welsh given that the English government is on a crash-course to fuck up the UK.

From 2010, Airdrie United v Livingston - "Lest we Forget"

The Airdrie programme pays emotional tribute to the brave boys of the Wehrmacht

Ah. Is this the guy who was on Sam Leitch's Football Preview, or whatever it's called now, a few months ago?

The Welsh voted for Brexit too. They're quite capable of fecking themselves up without any help.

Heh, that's a fair point about the name, visually – though the language isn't related to anything Eastern European that I know of. The '-au' ending is pronounced "eye" – e.g. dau, Welsh for 'two', is said the same as "die" or "dye", just as the name Dai is. And as you might guess, trafod tactegau is literally 'talking (or discussing) tactics'.

(For what it's worth, in Welsh the emphasis usually comes on the penultimate syllable, and the single 'f' is pronounced "v" (a double 'ff' is "f") – so it's "TRA-vod tack-TEG-eye".)

Chelsea 1978. A fairly staggering ad. Sorry it's a bit ripped; the original owner may have got a wee excited.

As far as extremely dodgy ads go, try this one from Wolves 1969:

On the left side of that page, why is the Wolves Souvenir Shop selling QPR badges?

And on the right hand side, what is the scenario - is the Midlands society lady cold and needing an Andrews industrial heater to warm up, or has she already got one and keeps touching her bare arms because she can't believe how warm they are? Or is she reaching for her jewellery to pawn it to get the cash to run one of those things for an hour?

They still exist, as Andrews Sykes Ltd (after a merger in 1989). You could ring them and find out.

We don't know she's from the Midlands. She may be from the Loftus Road area and excited at the idea of QPR badges.

Mind you, the rot started to set in when "Matchday Magazines" started replacing programmes.

At a guess because they're all First Division teams and that was our first season in the top division.

I like how a couple of the letters have the writers full address. R Whittle could have been getting his windows put through by exiled Preston fans.

When they did the Big Match Revisited on ITV4 a few years back, I was always surprised when Brian Moore read out letters and gave the writer's full address on TV.
