Probably attracted by his record of Europa league qualifications with Milan and Napoli, but there is always a question of whether he was underachieving considering the resources at his disposal. He seems to be good at motivation and creating a good atmosphere but tactically is another matter. It could be worse Walter Zenga is still available.

Gattuso is the new manager of Fiorentina, which is a state of affairs I had only thought possible in Mad Libs

Venezia won the play-off to return to Serie A for the first time in twenty years, here'e hoping they can loan in the next Alvaro Recoba for the next season.

The managerial roundabout is now in full swing. Conte leaves Inter to be replaced by Simone Inzaghi and Allegri returns to Juventus. Ranieri has left Sampdoria and looks like Gattuso will be leaving Napoli. At this rate it looks like only Milan and Atlanta will start next season with the same coach as started the previous season.

Tottenham are in the Conference League

I didn't see any of Leicester today, but Napoli just froze on the occasion. They were lucky to get a draw.

Or Spurs either but that was decided weeks ago. Today, Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus and Milan all got in at the expense of Leicester and Napoli. They just always find a way.

Useless bastards. They should have given the verona defenders rohypnol, as a tribute to the great man, and that great game

The first tiebreaker is head to head, which is why Atalanta can't fall out of the Champion League places

If Juve catch Atalanta on goal difference (is that the decider for same points in Serie A) then I think an investigation of Bologna player bank accounts will need an examination.

Napoli have scored. Milan in second have 79 points. Juventus in fifth have 78 points. That's pretty tight. If atalanta equalize, they will finish second and milan will finish fifth. This is pretty tense.

Milan score from a penalty against the run of play in Bergamo, making Napoli's lot worse

    Juve are now 3-0 up

Spezia get a second and it looks like Jose will have his midweeks free next season

Roma down 1-0 early at Spezia, which would give the last European place to Sassuolo
    Jive up early at Bologna

Good news from Serie B, where Berlusconi's Monza plans have hit the buffers, as Citadella set up a Veneto play-off final derby against Venezia - so a side who've never played in Serie A meet one who were last in the top flight in the year 2000.
