Hmm, Salford away. Is there any way I could get there?

      Is Rooney staying at Derby?

Yes, but will they let you in?

Not having a wall should help a bit...

If the lack of income generated from fans was cited for the end of League One and Two last season, how have they decided that the new season, and presumably these games, can be behind closed doors?

Bristol City v Exeter is a personal "get in" for me as the only other west country emigrant in our village pub supports Brizzle. Hope that one finds its way onto the telly.

              Incredible, isn’t it?

And all the clubs who felt obliged to put press releases out saying why they couldn’t finish the season, don’t seem to have put one out explaining how they can start this one. I’d genuinely like to understand it.

Can games be streamed live to compensate for being behind closed doors? The only purpose of playing these games otherwise is to get them out of the way in the hope of getting a draw at home to a top flight club when fans return (assuming they do).

OTOH two abandoned seasons (given the likelihood of a new winter surge) starts to look avoidable.

Middlesbrough have a big stadium. Pretty sure they could do social distancing for the veritable hordes of Salopians who would turn up.

I can't speak for all clubs, but Carlisle have reduced their wage bill over the summer, received a bit of a windfall from a player sale and started selling season tickets last week, so all those factors should mean that we can survive a month playing behind closed doors.

Any longer than that and we'll be slipping into the shit. Our CEO said in March that we'd lose ?200k per month playing with no fans, that figure has probably reduced a bit now but you can still see how fragile things are if we don't get fans in by early-mid October.

Looks like it might have been a half-decent game at the Riverside. At 2-1 at half-time I was expecting a second half Cumdog brace to take the spoils back to Salop. But he only managed the one and Boro ran out 4-3 winners. If you've read the new WSC you'll know that this is Middlesbrough's first home win since Boxing Day.

Augurs well for Barrow that even after losing Evatt in the close-season, they were able to take Derby all the way to spot-kicks, and away from home at that.

Hope Harrogate get Leeds in round two.

The winners of this, this year, don't qualify for the Europa League if not otherwise qualified for Europe. They'll be England's first entrants in the Europa Conference League in 2021-22.

But how often in the last decade has it been won by a team that does not qualify by other means?

That's the curio, isn't it? "The competition the big six don't care about" ... but keep winning.

Was 1983's final the last League Cup match to be played on a Saturday before today?

No. The 12/13 First Round was played before the Football League season begun, with a handful of games played on a Saturday.

2000/2001 FA Cup Third Round. Gary Doherty scored deep into injury time.

Ipswich have never played Rochdale at Portman Road. If they both get through Round 2, Ipswich will play Rochdale at Portman Road twice in five days.

The last time we were drawn against Liverpool, we were beaten by Mansfield in a replay and missed out. Wouldn't put it past Bradford beating us, not that Liverpool would put out a first team.

Burnley vs Sheffield United will be streamed live via the Carabao Cup website in Thursday at 5.30.

                                              For a tenner.

Even as a Clarets fan.... no.

Just realised that if Barrow'd've been better at penalties, then they'd be hosting one of the few clubs who could travel by train without changing...
