I hate to plagiarise Lobachevsky, but i like the 2018 kit but its just not France so 1998 it is

98 is a tribute to the 84 Euro winning kit. It's not a particularly well done tribute, but it's far better than playing in something that resembles hand-me-down Scotland rugby jerseys.

For the US women, 1999 is basically perfect. So:

2015 (the fade-up yellow socks. No, just no.)

1991 - Not great adidas, I know it was the way you did it at the time, but still
2015 - I'm punishing a decent kit for the egregious socks

The 91 offering is awful. 15 ruined by the socks. 19 is quite good, though that photo has been cunningly shot in such a way as to disguise those horrible stars on the shorts, which appear on the drawing. Are they actually there? Bleurgh. 99 is clearly best even though it is way too white (saved, just, by the collar and cuffs)

I actually like the 2019 ones best. They actually wore the "We Are The Champions!" badges right there in the middle of the shirt, alongside the badge that already had 3 stars on it? How crass. How showy. How USA!

After that the adidas shoulder stripes of 91, then the other two are identically dull as far as I can see, although the socks are awful in 15 so that's last.

I'm torn on my decision. Taken out of all context, the 2018 kit is better, 1998 is just too fussy. But as a French kit, 2018 is too dark and the shorts and socks are the wrong colour. Having said that, 1998 has almost 'over-Frenched' the kit, deciding that having the flag as shirt-shorts-socks wasn't enough, they needed to add the colours as piping on in as many places as possible, then do some kind of deconstructed version on the front of the shirt. Actually, I've convinced myself during the writing, 2018 is better.

I agree entirely with your opinions, except the conclusion. 1998 for me, fussy or not.
