1 Milan 86-90** v Juventus 96-98 (nobody could stay with that Milan side in their pomp)
        2 France 82-84* v Liverpool 18-20 (consistency wins out)
2 Nottingham Forest 77-80* v Ipswich Town 76-82* (I know, I’ve seen the stats and head-to-heads, but just as Ipswich were underdogs in ‘78, they edge out Cloughie’s boys here)
1 Denmark 1986* v Romania 1994 (very close this one, comes down to personal preference, and Michael Laudrup is the only player from either side I saw play)

Were these games being played behind closed-doors?

I think we have to give an outright win for the knockouts.

No way this Liverpool team are losing a penalty shootout to France I'm afraid. Probably only Platini would have scored. Denmark - Romania on the other hand, that would have been a shootout impossible to call.

What if Adrian was in goal?

This thread is about calming everyone down and avoiding references to potential horror

Just wait til Klopp rests van Dijk for the QFs and plays Lovren...

Because Satchmo Distel predicted two draws despite being told that there must be a winning team

                                                    Real Madrid 55-60 2-1 Ajax 69-73
Di Stefano and Puskas score at the start of each half. Ajax push hard in the second half but only have a late Rep strike to show for their efforts.

                                                    Hungary 53-56* 2-4 Barcelona 08-09*
Hungary come up against a team with a player of equal standing to Puskas. It's an end to end game with two apiece for Messi and Puskas but Barca have the additional firepower of Eto'o and Henry who bag one each

                                                    West Germany 1972 2-1 Ajax 1995**
Two second half strikes from Müller secures victory for West Germany as they come from a goal down following Jari Litmanen's early opener.

                                                    Brazil 1970 4-1 France 1998-2000*
Brazil have it all sewn up by half time as they go in with a 3-0 lead with two from Pelé and one from Tostăo. Zidane pulls one back midway though the second half but Jairzinho soon restores Brazil's lead.
