Gregg Berhalter's brother is quitting the USSF and won't be the new head.

RSL signed a Venezuelan winger and are close to signing Justin Meram.

The new season jerseys were released yesterday. San Jose's new away is godawful, in particular.

Nashville's sold enough tickets for their opener that they'll open the upper deck of the stadium.

But most importantly, there's a new CBA for 5 years. And it didn't require scorched earth from either side.

Minimum salary rises to over 100K by the end of it; teams now *must* charter 8 legs a year during the season, up to 16 by 2024, and to all playoff/CCL matches.

Free agency now comes at age 24 and 5 season in the league; TAM is gone, it now becomes additional general allocation money.

The league reserves the right in future to make the third DP a U-23 player. Starting next year, teams can sign up to 3 players 22 years old or younger for a reduced salary cap hit, full details to follow. And finally, if the media contracts that are up in 2020 go more than $100M over the 2022 number, 25% of the overage is redirected into spending on players via salary cap increase or increased allocation money.

Nashville's new mayor seems to be trying to screw up the franchise by shoehorning a new NASCAR track onto the ground where their stadium is going to be built. Supposedly, if construction doesn't start by march 31, MLS can yank the franchise according to the agreement signed with the city.

RSL finally transferred Jefferson Savarino to Atletico Mineiro for a club record fee.

US women and Canada to to the Olympics.

Pablo Piatti signs for Toronto as a DP.

This says TAM is not completely gone. Though I never understood what it means anyway.

In case anyone is wondering where the CPL is in the grand scheme of talent in world football, York9 just signed a Japanese defender from a Finnish second-division team. This seems about right to me.

We have twitter hijinks: Birmingham Legion of USL and Birmingham City of England fans have discovered each other. In name solidarity, the English Birmingham fans have started trolling our Birmingham's "rivals", Memphis 901. Who have returned fire with Peaky Blinders accent jokes.

Andy Najar may be returning, to LAFC.

Meanwhile, Austin FC have officially taken over the title of America's most hipster team. Shirt sponsorship by Yeti.

Guzan re-signs til 2023 with Atlanta, who had George Bello get injured in an exhibition game. Nacho Piattti seems to be finally getting his wish to move back to San Lorenzo, and Montreal's new sporting director is facing fraud charges in Belgium whence he came.

We're up to 8 teams with standing sections as of the start of this year.

Atletico Ottawa, or just #ottleti, are now an actual thing, with Mista named as their coach. Cue endless debates in Toronto about whether or not Mista was the worst-ever MLS DP.

Canada GK Erin McLeod signs for Orlando Pride; Orlando City brought in Pepsi as a sponsor.

                  LAFC signed Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Miles Robinson did his quad in training before CCL on Tuesday, out for a while.

Nashville got the mayor to sign on to the stadium agreement, finally.

Paul Arriola looks to have done his ACL today in preseason against Orlando.

Winston Reid on loan to SKC.

30 odd days before the season starts, Inter Miami (who are being sued by Inter Milan over calling themselves Inter) finally appoint Jason Kreis to coach their reserves. Now, they just need to sign players.

All sorts of Argentinian players are rumored to be coming to all sorts of MLS teams.

In kinda MLS related news, DCU has a young, ex-Maryland defender named Donovan Pines. His father was just named the new president of UMD.

The years long running saga of the halfassed NISA 3rd division league has ended, for now, by their finally achieving certification by the USSF as a pro league. 8 teams to begin with, 4 of which are in California.

Darren Mattocks is up on felony fraud charges in PA.

Inter Miami have signed a $235M sponsorship deal for their shirts, stadium, and merch with the Qatar foundation.

The Daytona speedway is going to host a July 4th tournament in the infield next year, with pro teams from North and South America, along with music and esports and water slides and some other shit.

Cincinnati fired their coach for racism.

Miguel Ibarra is likely to sign with Seattle.

Sky Blue is going to share RNBY's training facility.

Philly's stadium has a new name: Subaru Park

Danny Acosta did his ACL, out for the year for the Galaxy.

OK, so it's just dawned on me that this year we are playing in something called the "Leagues Cup" (8 MLS teams + 8 Liga teams, each in theory the 8 best who did not make it into the CCL). Four round single-match knock-out, midweek....last year was its first edition - did anyone actually use their first team players, or did everyone treat it basically as a chance to give minuted to their second XI?

It is heavily supported by MLS, was broadcast on ESPN and attracted decent crowds, so clubs did field at least some first team players.

I expect that TSN will pick it up this season

Do you get Spanish language stations? It's a Univision/Televisa joint as well.

Probably there is but not on any package I would be likely to buy. There's like 300 ethnic channels you can order specially, but we just order RAI for Nonna when she is here and that's it. TSN might pick it up, but I bet ONESoccer, which has the CPL + Canadian Championship rights (and, weirdly, the MX Liga and Chinese Super League rights) makes a play for it.

Speaking of which: the way they've arranged the Championship this year all but guarantees a TFC-Whitecaps final. You should come up again.

NWSL schedule finally came out today.

DCU v Derby County, gee I wonder why, likely in the October international window. Paul Arriola's officially done for the year with an ACL.

Columbus picked up a local health company to sponsor the training complex they're building.

Jurgen Damm is leaving Liga MX in the summer for MLS, Houston has his discovery rights, whether that's where he ends up is another story.

Chicago imports MF Gaston Gimenez from Velez as a DP.

And we have a Giuseppe Rossi sighting, with RSL.

FAO Ursus and others who love Ebbets Field flannels: They just put out a limited NASL collection of stuff for some of the teams; Vancouver and the LA Aztecs included.

Nashville's sold 50,000 and counting for the franchise home opener, 1500+ to Atlanta fans.

Tigres needed a 94th minute header from their goalkeeper to scrape past Alianza of El Salvador tonight in CCL, 5-4 agg.

NISA already has an expansion team for 2020-New Jersey Teamsters, playing in Bayonne. Your jokes here.

Columbus's new jersey sponsorship next season will be Nationwide insurance. For this season, it's the hospital Nationwide sponsors or runs in Columbus.

Brek Shea is supposed to be signing for Miami's reserves.

NWSL finally hired a commissioner after years of not bothering with one.

Josef Martinez out for the season. I don't wish him personally anything but the best, but I really do want to watch Atlanta's massively entitled fan base suffer for a whole season.

Also, I just looked at Miami's lineup and who is supposed to be scoring the goals, exactly?
