452 Games and then Toronto and Seattle play a final: the 2020 MLS thread.

    Because it's 2020.

I believe Inca needs to bless the thread at some point soon.

Ottawa is getting a CPL team, apparently to be funded by Atletico Madrid; Pa Modou Kah reappears as coach of Pacific FC in the CPL; Montreal Impact have permanently brought back the kid who went to Barca and signed a defender from Cavalry FC.

Tampa Bay Rowdies are putting a U-23 team in USL2.

NWSL draft is tomorrow, and there's been a whole mess of trades recently.

Leidos stays as DC's shirt sponsor, Caesar's is likely to go on the sleeve. Currently under the east stands at Audi is a vast space full of nothing, with the offices above it. United wants to stick both a restaurant and a sports book in there.

LAFC signed Kenneth Vermeer from Feyenoord, and Jose Cifuentes an Ecuadoran MF; Seattle signed Shane O'Neill.

Adam Jahn is likely to sign in Atlanta, which will get Phoenix a $100K transfer fee. Edgar Castillo's also on trial in Atlanta.

Gonzalo Segares sighting-new coach of the boys U-15 US team.

The 3rd SheBelieves venue is Frisco.

Is CPL something that's kept entirely separate from MLS in Canada?

        Yes.

No promotion/relegation, etc. See also USL in the US (which used to have a Canadian team or two).

Yep. Last year was inaugural season. Seven teams, maybe up to eight this year. Canada briefly had a domestic league from 1987 to 1995 or so (I could be out a year at ether end), but there wasn't the money to keep it going. This time looks much more promising.

The big story right now, which jefe alludes to, is up here is that we've had the our very first CPL-to-MLS transfer, with Joel Waterman moving from Calgary to the impact. With a transfer fee! All very grown up. Also still a non-zero chance Tristan Borges moves up a level as well. All good signs for Canadian soccer.

CPL teams play MLS in the knock out Canadian Championship to determine the countries entry to the CONCACAF Champions League.

Chicharito to the Galaxy for a ridiculous amount of money.

LAFC, having imported a keeper from Feyenoord, traded Tyler Miller to the Loons for $350K of allocation money. Orlando opened their training facility, and bought a Peruvian keeper also.

Atlanta trades Julian Gressel to DC for up to $1.1M of allocation money, $750K to start with.

Vancouver signs a Ghanaian MF from the Israeli league.

RSL brings back Kyle Beckerman, and signs Ashtone Morgan.

Dallas in turn spends large $$ on Argentinian F Franco Jara from Pachuca, and trade MF Jacori Hayes to Minnesota for a draft pick.

Chicago and Cincinnati both signed new GK's, and Chicago also signed a Slovenian forward as a DP; Philly adds a Slovakian U-21 MF as a DP of their own.

Atletico Canadians FC, possibly. Also, Lyon is rumored to be looking into putting a CPL team in Quebec City.

Bobby Shuttlesworth signs to likely be the backup GK in Chicago.

RSL is negotiating to sell Jefferson Savarino.

Columbus claimed Fanendo Adi off FCC's waivers, so FCC's going to pay most of his salary to play for their rivals.

Cody Cropper signs in Houston, and Atlanta is lending problem child Andrew Carleton to Indy for the season, after signing a guy from Hearts.

                          Ilsinho re-signs in Philly.

Antonio Nocerno retires from playing for Orlando; will now coach for them.

Louisville and New Mexico also put U-23 teams in USL League 2, in addition to Tampa Bay.

Kiwi legend Winston Reid is likely inbound to MLS; where still TBD.

CB Osvaldo Alanis rejoins Matias Almeyda at San Jose.

Chicago have brought in a Venezuelan defender and probably a striker from Augsburg.

Portland buys Felipe Mora from Pumas.

The NISA teams are in the Open Cup this year, coming in in the second round, pairings announced today. The locally huge Detroit City NISA team hosts El Paso, the Chattanooga team goes to Tim Howard's Memphis 901, and there's a NISA-USL Charlotte derby as well, among many many more possible pairings.

We have an Edson Buddle sighting-new head coach of the USL2 Westchester Flames.

CPL to Ottawa and Atletico Madrid is now official for 2021.

Columbus is talking about rebranding, but at least won't change their colors.

Bobby Wood could well be leaving Germany for FC Cincinnati.

Jefe, any word on how the CBA talks are going? More importantly, what are the odds of a change to the rules for the 3rd DP?

CBA talks have been mutually extended for another week, but there seems to still be a lot of work to go.

TFC re-sign Quentin Westberg, and ex-TFC/York9 Ryan Telfer has taken his talents to the Cypriot 1st division.

Sounders sign Joao Paulo as a DP from Botafogo

The former Seattle Reign will now be known as OL Reign, with a new logo, and NWSL broadcast rights are about to go to CBS.

Miami sign Lewis Morgan from Celtic, Argentine CB Nicolas Figal, and trade allocation dollars and a international slot for Wil Trapp from Columbus.

Portland loans in Chilean international F Felipe Mora from Liga MX.

Tito Villalba lost his job under Frank De Boer, wanted to be sure he'd play in Copa America, and therefore was sold back to Paraguay, to Libertad.

Kemar Lawrence finally gets his desired departure from NYRB, sold to Anderlecht.

I'm not sure they can make a change to the DP rules this close to the season, and I suspect the CBA negotiations take precedence over everything else.

I'll try to keep an eye on Lewis Morgan at Inter Miami. Another young Scottish talent hoovered up by one of the old firm, and then never given much game time.

The talk up here is that the DP rule may change so that the 3d DP would be required to be under-23 and this is what's making TFC stall on a signing.

On another note: how is Steven Beitashour still unsigned?

Seattle's got their 3 signed, so I suspect it's too lat to change for this season. For next, that's been hinted at.

Due to literally no other feasible local option, NYCFC will play their CCL quarterfinal home leg at....Red Bull Arena.

US women v Brazil in San Jose in April, v Germany at Rentschler Field in Hartford in June, several more TBA.

The big concern for NM United fans is the extension of safety netting from foul pole to foul pole (due to playing at Isotopes Park) making a pretty crappy viewing experience. The fans want a retractable net.

Toronto's new DP appears to be Pablo Piatti, provided his knees don;t give out during the medical. If true, this would be the first time in fifteen seasons TFC had a winger who could both run and cross (Laurent Robert was only 1 out of 2 on that score).
