My prediction is this, as they are always very much along these lines:

I was wrong on that one, but he’s back in form now. What does this actually say?

Hopefully we will get the three points back at Madejski Stadium... We will face a very strong team, a good squad and some very good players. They have a top striker – who is very strong and who battles – and a good offensive dynamic. So we will see what happens. We need to recover now, after a long trip back from Swansea. Fulham played a day before us, so they have 24 hours more than we do to recover. But our medical staff and fitness coaches will help our players to recover properly. As I have said before, with the way that we have been working, I trust that my players can get the points we need to think about higher goals.

    There’s a man without a plan.

The last three Fulham managers to win at Reading, all went on to manage England.

So, we look forward to Scott Parker being in charge of England at whatever masters of corruption are hosting the 2026 world cup.

HMS Piss This Tinpot League By Playing One Up Front At Home To Wigan sails serenely on and we'll go top if we win our next game (Sky have shifted a nice short trip to Cardiff to the Friday night after the international break)

Yeah, it's tight at the top so the lead has changed more often than is usual, even taking into account the spread out of fixtures that you get over every weekend. forest have a chance to go top at Wigan today.

as with the villa game last year, Birmingham fans once again failed to cover themselves in glory yesterday away at Elland road on the day of the celebration on Leeds' 100th anniversary. They threw a flare into the Leeds fans, punched and kicked stewards who waded in to try and apprehend the flare thrower and it carried on in a car park outside the ground for about an hour after the match ended. Reports I've read from at least two journalists saying it was the worst in stadium violence they'd seen for many years.

8 yellow cards for Barnsley tonight at their 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns.

Swansea seem to be falling away quite rapidly after a very promising start. They lost 0-3 to Brentford tonight.

Rory Delap in caretaker charge for Stoke City tonight amid rumours that Alex Neil might leave Preston to join Stoke. Not a given though - only a few months ago Neil turned West Brom down near the end of the season when he was expected to leave. Would be a shame if he went. I'd love to see Preston go up under him.

Finally watching Saturday's Quest. I do like QPR's duck egg kit.

It's off-the-shelf mint toothpaste. Not much love from any quarter, particularly as it's close to Chelsea's original kit

Is janik our only stoke fan. I was hoping he, or anyone else could explain what is going on with them at the moment. i saw yesterday's game and they were really so shit. Yet it was their first game after Nathan jones had been sacked. As a West Brom fan, i feared it was very much the wrong time to be playing them. Also, Don Goodman said on commentary that he had never known the atmosphere at stoke to be so flat. Which really surprises me. I thought they'd be right behind the caretaker manager, stoke favourite Rory Delap.

managers just seem to lose their touch the minute they get the stoke job. Nathan Jones is the most recent case in point, taking the most expensively assembled squad in the championship to the relegation places.

I think Janik is a Leicester fan.

He has a watching brief on both clubs.

Hughes lost his touch long before arriving at Stoke. If he ever had it.

Yes, too true. I was thinking of two more recent appointments really though. Gary Rowett and Nathan Jones, both of whom seemed decent up and coming managers before getting the Stoke job.

Anyway, it seems Stoke have eschewed Tony Pulis and I'm assuming Alex Neil turned them down so they have ended up with Michael O'Neill. He won at first attempt today - 4-2 away at Barnsley, who now go bottom.

Unless we can stop shipping two stupid goals a game, every game, we won't be able to take advantage of our blistering front-footed attack. Gaaak!

Make no mistake, Stoke were the worst team I've seen at Oakwell this season. They were poor at moving the ball around and looked to have no real threat going forward.

They were playing us though and could have scored seven goals. Don't be surprised if Barnsley don't win another game this season.

Have you read the latest WSC, Billy? There's a really good article on Barnsley and their sacking of Daniel Stendel. A shameful affair.

He's been something of a revelation this year. He'd had trouble finding a place in the team previously, but Freeman Luongo and Bidwell were let go in the summer, and that opened up opportunities on the left mid-field and defence. He's made himself un-droppable over there. Tenacious, great engine, and can pick out a pass out of nowhere. He's not fast, and given that he has to run the entire left side on his own it's clear he's no defensive specialist however he rarely makes a mistake. Along with Eze he's been our most reliable player and, at the this point, would be a favourite for player of the season.

I have read the new WSC and agree it's a good article. The players we have just are nowhere near good enough at this early stage of their careers. If any of them do become halfway decent they'll be quickly sold off though, because The Project is all about turning over a quick profit. (This won't be any of the defenders - they all look like a group of eight year olds chasing a balloon at a birthday party.) We're told it's time for 'New Heroes' every summer when every decent player we have is moved on. The only problem is that good players are never here long enough to become heroes. We just have eleven lottery tickets running around the field. Cauley Woodrow apart, the rest aren't going to earn us any money.

Down by Christmas. Woodrow sold in January.

Mark Bowen will be believing his own hype if Reading carry on like this. I doubt they will, I think it's a post-Jose sigh of relief.

you're not going to believe this, but Manager Mick is screwing him over with the usual mix of conservatism double standards, and stupidity.

Does seem odd. It's true that he has weaknesses as traditional defensive LB. He's not tall, and can get done for pace. He's better when we play 3-5-2 and doesn't have to retreat so far. The biggest asset he has though, and this wasn't addressed by Manager Mick, is being enormously versatile. He can play pretty much anywhere if asked. I would have thought, particularly at an International level if you're bringing someone off the bench that would be a significant plus.
