I make that 45, if I'm allowed RCS as well as Czech Republic and Slovakia? I'm sure I've missed out a couple I've seen in London friendlies (possibly Ghana and Ivory Coast) but will need to check further to confirm .
Gah, forgot Andorra were the opponents in the post-qualification party that was the final Euro 2016 qualifier. 46 then.

And I definitely saw Wales play Cyprus in 1993, probably in 2006 too but I have a less firm recollection of that. 47.

*Yeah. Fuck it. Australia. I saw them in 1985 - before they moved; No way I'm admitting I don't have an Oceanic nation ... or that I couldn't be arsed going through to Tynecastle in 2003 to see New Zealand.

Now I know everyone's just gonnae look at me and think "that's the guy who says he's into football but hasn't seen Brazil". Or Switzerland.

                England vs
                USSR
                Turkey
                Denmark
                Iceland
                Ukraine
                Wales
                Northern Ireland
                Azerbaijan
                Austria
                Argentina
                Jamaica
                Andorra (home and away)
                Macedonia
                Estonia
                Kazakhstan

                Netherlands vs Denmark
                Slovakia vs Greece

Also in a random "tournament" in Los Angeles in the late 80s, in which the teams may or may not have been the full international sides:
Guatemala and El Salvador - playing Universidad Guadalajara and the Republic of Ireland Olympic team respectively (the latter has also been described as a League of Ireland XI)

There was another around the same time which I'm sure Brazil played but can I hell find it.

I did go and see the national stadium in Armenia but sadly no game on when I was there. I had to see it - West Ham played there in 1975. You understand I'm sure

Less excuse for Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Philippines, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Montserrat and Antigua - all of which I have (1) been to on holiday (2) visited their national stadiums but (3) never seen their national team play live

That's a very specific set of conditions but feel free to add more examples..

I've related the tale on here before, but we wandered into the Tórsvøllur stadium in Tórshavn and watched a national team training session before then-manager Brian Kerr called Mrs TrL over and gave her a bundle of goodies [Nb - not a euphemism]. There were books on the Faroes, two replica tops, pin badges and mini-pennants. Never seen 'em play though.

Somebody asked, so I thought I'd do this rather than my day job (although they are related). Hopefully, if the upload works (and the image will be big), here's a world map of which nations** OTFers* have been to see. It is coloured by how many OTFers have been to each team.***

                            * Some OTFers gave vague answers which I ignored.
**A number of now defunct teams are currently excluded.
*** Geography nerds will note that I'm unable to split Kosovo from Serbia in my current software
**** This seems to have been scaled by OTF's software. Click to open in new tab to get to 16km/pixel scale. I can do this much bigger or localised if anyone wants
***** Obviously, there's a ton of errors. Tough shit.
****** I did this before Merlin posted his big list
******* I've excluded teams stated as womens, U-21/23/13, CONIFA, just to make my life a bit easier.

                              So, yeah:

The team most people have seen is, unsurprisingly, England, at 28. Followed by Scotland (20), Brazil (19) and Argentina (18).
Armenia seems to be the outlier UEFA team that nobody on OTF has seen (and Kosovo, as it happens, but it doesn't show on the map)
India is by far the most populous, and also largest, country that nobody has seen play.
OTF's representation is great in Europe, good in the Americas, but pretty poor elsewhere.

Excellent stuff, SB. We need one of those maps for the 'Countries you've watched football in' thread we had a while back.

I've seen Wales play Armenia so some of the other Sons of Wales on here must have too

Great stuff, SB: I was beginning to dread having to do an analysis of the teams we've seen (having started the thread and half promised to) but you've done it much better than I ever could have,

I'm sure I was at more Scotland games, but I can only remember two, both at Hampden. The first was against Northern Ireland, which I remember because it was the only game I ever attended with my mother. George Best was playing, so that explains that.

The other one was (I think) against Romania in the mid to late 70's. I can't recall anything at all about the game itself, not even the score. But memories of The Wombles going round the track at half-time on a float 'singing' Underground Overground, and being drowned out by 'you're going to get your fucking heads kicked in' will stay forever clear in my mind.

Other than that - Portugal v Denmark at Porto's ground.

From a quick Google I reckon you saw a 1-1 draw back in 1975.

I was going to quickly skim the longer lists to see, but SB's map saves me from having to do so because no one's said Venezuela yet. So I might be able to lay claim to being the first OTFer to have seen an entire confederation (in the adult men's game), even though it is the easiest confederation to complete, because thanks to a combination of going to most of Argentina's World Cup qualifiers since I moved here in 2010, and Argentina hosting the Copa América in 2011, I've seen every CONMEBOL nation.

I've also seen (worked at) an England v Wales game at Old Trafford ... which I think is the only England game I've been at ... and an Argentina v Spain friendly after the 2010 World Cup.

I went to Hillsborough in the early-90s to see Chelsea play Wednesday. It was an easy 2-0 to the home team at the break and the meathead in the seat next to me wasn't happy. The half-time entertainment consisted of a couple of costumed stars of a local production of "Walt Disney on Ice" walking around the edge of the pitch.

"Come down and shake Mickey's hand," invited the PA announcer.

"Bring 'im up 'ere an' I'll shake MIckey's fuckin' 'and for 'im," the bloke next to me responded in the sort of gruff voice that you really have to work on.

Mickey declined the kind offer, incidentally.

I’ve just noticed, too. I was in a gang of 3 with a guy in a kilt. I think we were in the Denmark end. All I remember is the industrial surroundings of the Standard Liège ground and the game was pretty dull (we had a great night after, as some local students took us to the late night bars, entirely due to the kilt)
