Mark Devlin, former Brentford chief executive

Mark Devlin, former Brentford chief executive has taken over as CEO at Dundalk. Any Bees fans out there with an opinion on his contribution at Brentford?

I liked him a lot. He was helpful, open and approachable and communicated well with a fanbase that for historical reasons has always taken a keen interest in the governance of the club. He was also very impressive in media interviews.

In the last few years there have been a couple of blunders, notably 'Pitchgate' where a new pitch was laid which was clearly unfit for purpose and resulted in the postponement of a match and a serious injury to our top signing that summer. Secondly, the new ticketing system this season has been plagued by difficulties and is still a cause of frustration. As CEO, I suppose he has to take ultimate responsibility for those mistakes.

No-one knows whether he jumped or was pushed. Maybe the club wanted a fresh approach as the move to the new stadium is only just over a year away. From a marketing perspective, some would say that with our recent success and the attractive football on display, we should be selling out Griffin Park. We need to expand our fanbase for Lionel Road which has a 50% bigger capacity.
