Clever move that from Liverpool. Invite them out early in the second half and in their eagerness hit them on the break. Wasn't this Klopp's strategy against Roma last year?

Lyon get one back. After a foul by their forward.

Being VAR'ed for offside, which it wasn't.

Watching Matip repeatedly foul Lewandowski is somehow strangely compelling

To be fair, at least 70% of those are Matip being within 5 feel of Lewandowski and Lewandowski throwing himself to the deck.

That would seem to be that. Bayern havent looked much like scoring one and now they need 2

To be fairer they're not. He's been all over him kicking him at every opportunity. Lewandowski may have rolled a few more times than he needed to but he's been kicked all over the pitch

Salah too greedy there - should've been game over.

                        If it isn't already, like.

Messi scores a peach by sending two Lyon players out for chips, to close it out. 3-1

Sanches with a bit of a naughty one on Wijnaldum, there.

And as I type, 3! Get in there.

                                Firmino's teeth are luminous.

Pique makes it 4-1, and it's going to be a rout now.

He asked for (and got) the full Geller.

                                          Well, that was straightforward.

That's 4 English teams in the QFs. No German. Only one Spanish (or Spanishish) (one Italian one Portuguese one Dutch)

                                              Poor game, but great result.

Fastastic performances from the English clubs in the last couple of weeks, which will have done our UEFA coefficient the power of good.

I thought Liverpool looked like a much more serious team than Bayern. They were very well drilled, played well within themselves and exposed themselves to very little risk and were able to chop bayern up at the appropriate times, and bar a couple of moments, were very comfortable. That first Mane goal is the most ridiculous thing I've seen since the last ridiculous thing he did. The Speed of thought involved in that goal is simply cartoonish.

Bayern are back to where they were when Van Gaal arrived, flopping out in the second round and looking weak. They're at that horrible point where all their good players have turned 30, the younger ones aren't great, and there's no real sense of where they are going. You could really tell though that one of these teams has to play at least 10 games a season against five of the 10 richest clubs in europe, and the other doesn't get much of a stretch. I'm not convinced that a team prodding around at the top end of the premier league would think that a front three of ribery, lewandowski and Gnabry is enough to be going on with.

Good point, one which rival clubs of teams left in the competition, such as Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and co will care not too hoots about as they pray for a collective English QF wipeout.
