    Rogin's occasional Friday lunchtime teaser

In 1913, Aston Villa beat champions Sunderland in the FA Cup final. That was the first time that a season's top two league finishers had met in a Cup final. It's only happened three times since, in either FA Cup Finals or League Cup Finals - can you name the years, finalists and result? As a clue all three more recent answers have been in my living memory and I'm still on the shy side of 50.

Aside from GO wishing a decade away (a Rush/ Robbie Fowler thing I expect) yes, those are the three. Given that the League/Cup/League Cup double has now been done about 15 times, and on top of that there are many other occasions where League champions or second place lost a Cup Final, it does seem a statistical quirk that this particular list is limited to four.
