Cafu holds the record at 156 selection for the Seleção.

Does anyone have the list for all-time FIFA record for most national appearances?

OK, I found it, though it seems some of the numbers might be off a little. Interestng list:

One quarter of the players in the top 16 are from Saudi Arabia and nearly half from Arab countries.

The women's list is also quite interesting.

Kristine Lilly's 340 caps is an amazing number.

I always have to smile when I see that Germany and West Germany are listed as two different countries.

Shilton's 125 is incredible when you consider that Ray Clemence won 61 caps during his era.

The numbers are off where nations counted certain games as caps either that weren't (post 56 Olympics or games against non-members and club sides) or games that used to be considered official, but are no longer - the discrepancy for Moore and Charlton is a game against the Rest of the World in 1963, which is no longer considered a full international.

Wow. That record is going to be very, very hard to break. Casillas has the potential to totally shatter the men's record but 340 caps (and counting) is beyond his reach. I suppose women might play more often for their national teams given that their club schedule is far less demanding. Lilly is 37, and still on the team apparently, having started playing for the USWMT at 16. Is she still the captain?

Olympics no longer counting was harsh on a few players. Kamamoto of Japan who lost 27 goals from his tally.

The incomparable RSSSF has a decent list of caps:

No surprise to see the men's list dominated by Americans - in the early to mid-90s (before MLS was created), the US national team used to play 30 to 40 games a year.

Linus, she's still playing but she's out for materity leave I think. Can't remember if she'll be back for the Olympics.

Too bad most people don't treat that as a "real" record. Ask someone who holds the record for most international goals, and you'll probably hear Ali Daei, and not Mia Hamm.
