I'm not aware of one, but then there haven't been that many professional football clubs started since the end of the USSR. My point about the French club was that the name predated the Russian Revolution by 20 years.
Google tells me that there is a Monrovia Black Star in Liberia.
I like the AFC Liverpool badge. It harks back to the communist roots the city enjoyed during the dark days of Thatcherism, and also highlights the fact we won 5 European Cups before Bert and Ernie turned up.
Oh dear. Having news about them on the Big Liverpool website points all the way towards being thought of as a 'cute little fashionable non-league offshoot' doesn't it?
I'm just trying to work out a set of circumstances that'd lead to FC United news appearing on manutd.com. Given Fergie has banned all mention of them from his press conferences, I can't think of one.
It's very strange.
But AFC Liverpool have always said they aren't a breakaway club, just an affordable alternative to Liverpool. But then so are the reserve team. Or the youth teams.
I think the liver bird and the lone star at the top look good, but the rest looks like something you used to (maybe still do) get on those cheap and nasty trophies they gave out at local schoolboy/youth team cup finals.
A bit overwrought and a bit of a dog's dinner overall, for me.
