Why the pope won't play for Vitesse Arnheim

Rot-Weiß Erfurt outcast Joseph Laumann has failed in his attempt to join Vitesse Arnheim. Laumann, who has a history of suspensions and disciplinary problems, wanted to leave Erfurt, but refused to inform his employer. He managed to get into the Vitesse Arnheim team that played a friendly on Saturday against Apeldoorn under the name "Joseph Ratzinger". Nobody at Vitesse had second thoughts. A Dutch journalist, however, found out about his true identity, and now Laumann faces the sack in Erfurt. Arnheim doesn't want him either.

If he'd have played in full vestments, plus mitre and crozier, I think Vitesse would have signed him. And during the ceremony he'd have had his knackers inspected before he got his signing-on fee.

I wonder if Joey Barton is going to try this in a couple of years . . .

RKC Waalwijk might be interested in him though.

Edit: Laumann, I mean, not Nutjob.

You suspect this ploy wouldn't work at Rangers.
