    Oh, is he still playing?!

I'm going back about 18 months now, but Simon Osborn (Crystal Palace, Reading) was pulling on a Cray Wanderers shirt in whatever division they were playing in. I believe he also had a spell at Bromley

The BBC has actually described him as "joint-head coach", which suggests we're in Lance Armstrong territory.

Edgar Davids has said he might start playing for Barnet in a couple of weeks, having joined them as joint head coach.

Impressive. So many incongruous juxtapositions in so few words.

Both Del Piero and Heskey scored in Newcastle's 3-2 win over Sydney today.

Can't quit playing I guess, hope it works out for all concerned.

And so is Emile Ivanhoe Heskey and it's good to see that contrary to some predictions, Newcastle have already sold at least one Heskey replica shirt.

    I must admit I was looking for this thread to mention Arshavin's appearance for Arsenal in the League Cup in the week ( I genuinely thought he'd left for Russia some time ago) but instead;

David James is back, back, back!

Saviola is at Benfica. Bloody hell. I saw Aimar play for Valencia as well

After reading the news that Inter stalwart Ivan Cordoba could be set to retire (who despite being there since 1999 is bizarrely only 35), I wondered if there were any other survivors of Colombia's '98 WC squad.

And it turns out that Ever Palacios, now FORTY-THREE, still plays in Colombia's top flight for Boyacá Chicó, if Wikipedia is to be believed.

As if this was not excellent enough in itself, it also turns out that they have an unbelievably SPECTACULAR strip:

Equally impossible to believe is that Hamilton Ricard seems to have escaped jail, and is also still playing, at the age of 38.

    Evidence:

He looks younger than I remember. Quindio are rocking the yellow-chevron-on-green look this season, but sadly I can't confirm if the chevron extends to the back as per the discussion in the kit thread.

Did the "Kuqi coup" headline get used in the end when he signed?

    Yes, and he scored today.

Shefki Kuqi's looking like a marvellous signing for us. He's 35 in a couple of months and has managed three goals and two assists in four games.

Even though he's not that old (34), I have been making the titular exclamation regularly over the last few weeks every time I notice David Connolly has scored again for Soton in D2.

I had forgotten him so completely that when I looked him up to post this I wondered why there was seemingly no record of him until I remembered his first name wasn't actually Kevin as I first thought.

I always assume he's spent more time abroad in his peripatetic career but was shocked to find out he's been playing back in the English leagues for a solid decade.

Surely there's no way of knowing without an equivalent photo of your (healthy) self?

Thankfully, I don't possess any digital photos of myself. I've been told I look like any number of people, including John Lydon, Boris Becker, Steffi Graf and, most recently and most disturbingly, Schorsch Kamerun (the lead singer of Die Goldenen Zitronen), who I think looks like something you normally see sticking out of a church wall with water running out of its mouth.

However, my ex-girlfriend did once paint a picture of me:
