    Really? Did they? Oh, yeeeess....

The thread in which we discuss clubs that players turned out for - usually at the end of their career - that you have totally forgotten.
Even if it was two or three years ago.

I will start the ball rolling

    David Seaman - Man City
    Dion Dublin - Celtic

    Really? etc, etc

Kenny Sansom: Everton. Not only did he turn out for us, he actually scored for us.

They say you learn a new thing every day. Today I learned that Andy C is an Everton fan.

Ray 'Butch' Wilkins played a mighty 61 minutes for Palace against Liverpool.

                That record in full?
                Played - 1
                Won - 0
                Drawn - 0
                Lost - 1
                For - 1
                Against - 6

A true Selhurst legend, our Ray.

I remember seeing Beardsley playing for Fulham. It was different then because when they came into all the al-Fayed money they got people out of the top divisions like Albert and Bracewell. There was a real shock factor about it.

I don't know why but I just can't see that happening now. Is it because there are 'stars' lower down who command big money now?

For some reason , Turf Moor has seen the fag end of Ian Wright, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne and ( I presume) Andy Cole's careers ( though the middle two squeezed out a few more games with Torquay and Boston respectively).

What does this say about Burnley?

Kevin Campbell only stopped drawing a wage from Cardiff City less than a year ago but even this January I was shocked when him "playing" for us was mentioned as I had clean forgotten about him.

Nigel Clough at Sheffield Wednesday is a good one, although I'm not sure he ever played.

Charlie George finished his career at Dundee United though he never managed a first team appearance.

George Best playing for Hibs usually makes peoples' jaws drop a fair bit.

Another one I found out about during the weekend's Milan derby was that Roberto Mancini played for Leicester. WTF?

Bruce Grobelaar was also on loan to us at a similar time (only ever made the bench though). Other odd ones in recent years were Stuart Ripley and Steve Harkness - there must be many more.

I saw Alan Hudson turn out for Stoke a few times in the early 80s.

Hudson spent two spells at Stoke, the first one lasting at least a couple of seasons.

Just one appearance (Sir Bobby Robson's testimonial, prior to signing for Hibs. Because of the rules at the time, he was actually signed as a player, because it was the only way he could appear for us (because his previous club was based outside the UK)
