Speaking of America Ferrera, the cub has just been all the way through the Dreamworks Dragons TV shows again.
Unlike most of the TV he likes, which revolve around wise-cracking sentient vehicles or dinosaurs of some description, I rather like Dragons.
Andree Vermeulen and TJ Miller as Tuffnut and Ruffnut are exceptionally good. And all the characters are 3 dimensional and have development, even the baddies.
And any show that can get Mark Hammill, Alfred Molina and Djimon Hounsou to play baddies has to be pretty great.

Working my way leisurely through Detroiters, a comedy show about the low-end of the advertising industry, and while I can't say I'm having my sides stitched up due to an severe over-abundance of belly laughs, it's the kind of stuff that has a rough, amiable charm about it and is nicely played by its two leads, Sam Richardson (who stands out as a puppy-dog-enthusiastic political staffer in Veep) and Tim Robinson. Jolly, undemanding half-hours.

Gold are showing Jam again. Strange laughs, and still good stuff.

Currently enjoying watching Dear White People on Netflix (hadn't seen the original film), catching up with Atlanta now that the Beeb are broadcasting it (had planned to download it but forgotten), and thought A Very English Scandal was very good.

Slowly working my way through Pennies from Heaven again, and then the rest of the Potter box set i've had for a decade.

Closing in on the last two eps of The Americans. Huge fan since season one, and this final season has been just terrific. Will be bummed when it's all over.

Anyway, I'm with WOM on the Americans. The final season has been great. This is one of those rare shows that is ending at the right time, and hasn't been stretched well past its useful life.

                      (Catching up with SNL)

Robert DeNiro was born to play Robert Mueller.

Just started The Fear. Very dark; not much sign of redemption or empathetic characters anywhere, but sticking with it out of morbid curiousity.

We've just been giving the first episode a try. The Gloucestershire jury are asking if the scientific advisor was Donald Trump.

Actually the alcohol-fuelled commentary was more pungent than that, but that's the gist.

In the finale I'm laying book on Stan's live-in GF turning out to be a Soviet plant. If the Jennings's are brought to justice, it would be the perfect final twist.

I haven't seen the latest episide, but at some point in the previous season the Jennings seemed to mention or suspect that Stan's GF might be KGB. So I've just assumed that to be the case all along, particularly as she's been trying to get into the FBI once he moved out of counter-espionage.

Yeah, there's something up with her, for sure. I hate this waiting each week for new episodes. So antiquated.

I don't recall that (the Jennings' conversation.) But I've long wondered what her function was from a plot perspective, and yes she's all but got her job in public relations.

I've been looking over the internet (while trying to avoid spoilers for the most recent episode) and it seems to all be in the episide where Philip first met Renee. Stan describes her as a female version of Phil, and Phil looks out at one point at Renee going into Stan's house and asks Elizabeth "Do you think we sent her?". I don't think the writers include that stuff as red herring material.

I really wanted to like LIS but found it slow and boring and couldn’t find any reviews that gave me hope that it would get better.

I liked the new Solo movie. Not as much as Th Last Jedi, but still liked it .

It’s setting up for a sequel, which I didn’t expect. I thought all of these extra Star Wars prequels were going to be one-offs.

The new LIS is just all wrong.

I think I'm going to dive into Evil Genius tonight.

I'm gutted that the next episode will be the last. I've been tweeting with Kelly Aucoin, who plays Father Tim (and also Dollar Bill on Billions). He says he's a true fan of the show, not just a member of the cast.

"Dive" is a good verb to use. We are 3/4 through and it is a truly wild as hell story. I remember the very basics (pizza delivery guy robs a bank w/ a collar bomb), but the rest is completely new to me.

I'm trying to remember hearing about that case in 2003, but it's not ringing any bells. I'm about halfway through the first episode and I'm hooked.

It is reminding me of a woman I briefly worked next to in Philadelphia who helped her boyfriend murder a guy for his money. Google Heather Lavelle. I think it's just a matter of time until someone makes one of these docos about her.
