    Aberfan Inquiry Finished

In which film does a character, idly perusing the newspaper headlines, speak the words "Aberfan Inquiry Finished"?

Google won't help you. I'll give you one not very helpful clue: it isn't British.

    I'll give it 24 hours.

I really didn't believe you about Google not being the answer, but I've been proved wong.

    Goggle loves wsc.co.uk doesn't it?

I'll throw in another couple of clues.

One of the main characters is a tall guy in a black leather trenchcoat, with metal teeth.

The film was released within a year of the Aberfan disaster itself.

Got it with the aid of the clues, but I had to google so it doesn't count.

Would it be O Lucky Man?*

*SR said it wasn't British. Will leave answer unchanged as proof of my inability to read posts clearly.

I'll add that it isn't American either.

In spite of all the clues, for some reason I keep thinking of the video for I want to break free. This is wrecking my head.

I keep thinking of the screen version of Carrie's War, even though it was set two decades before the Aberfan disaster happened.

If you hadn't told me "not a British film", my wild guess would have been "Charlie Bubbles".

But I have absolutely no idea about this one.

More clues: it starts, and also ends, with a horse-drawn carriage going through a park.

Over three decades earlier, the same director was responsible for a famous scene involving a cow.

Yep, as Wyatt and Johanista worked out, it is indeed Luis Bunuel's fantastic Belle de Jour, which I re-watched the other night.

And I'd completely forgotten about the jarring mention of Aberfan. It's strange to think that people in France had heard about it. Or indeed, people in the USA (because I think the newspaper in question was the New York Herald).
