I reckon Frasier is the grandaddy of them all and possibly the only one that outshines the original, however excellent Cheers was.

Frasier was one of those shows that I could appreciate, but rarely enjoyed watching.

There were many '80s spin-off sit-coms (Mork & Mindy, Facts of Life, etc.), but I think my favorite would have been The Jefferson's (if for the theme song alone). As for drama-type shows, I'd probably go with (and I know I may be outing myself as a geek with questionable taste) Angel.

Also, I'm not sure this counts as a spin-off, but if it does, then The Colbert Report may be at the top of the list.

Of the shows on that wiki list, The Simpsons (from Tracy Ullman) and Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job (from Tom Goes to the Mayor) are the winners. But those don't really feel like spin-offs to me.
