The BBC Imagine 2-part documentary by Julien Temple, part 1 of which aired on BBC2 last night (available on i-player), about Cuba, seems very good. Most of the bits I saw last night were on the historical background - Cuba before Castro's revolution. I'd no idea previously just how totally Mafia-ridden it was: the US based Mafia basically colonised it and were deeply entrenched in its web of political corruption, making zillions out of their Havana casinos and supporting a bunch of klepto-politicians who siphoned off the profits of the wider Cuban economy. Hardly surprising that they had a revolution.
The documentary also has wondeful footage of present day Havana.
