Quality-wise, it sounds like a generic young adult rom-com, but it's positive for gay teens to have cinematic exemplars who are straight-acting in both senses of that term, rather than the camp sidekicks of female characters that became somewhat of a trope. That said, Neil Patrick Harris would appear to be the only actor to be successful after openly disclosing his sexuality.
