Cold War Conversations sounds really interesting!
I tried with the History Of Rome, but it's really old and I think sounds it – the tone is a bit officious and I find it harm to warm to. So, for staying-at-home listening, I'm planning to work my way through Gimlet's Uncivil, about America's co-called Civil War, which I've already listened to a few of and loved it.

Tom Scharpling and Julie Klausner have their own podcast now, Double Threat (https://foreverdogpodcasts.com/podcasts/double-threat/). Julie is always a great guest on The Best Show and they are so funny together on those episodes, so a weekly show from them is a dream come true for me.

I know I am in no postion to complain about anything that comes for free, but this is taking the shine off.
*he can be forgiven for basically anything, ever since in an early episode he provided the following gem: "I don't have a child, but when I have a child someday: I could be a rock star astronaut who has a dinosaur that he rides to work, and I assume my son will still find me uncool. That's just what being a dad means."

Daniel Gray interviewing Brian McClair for the Nutmeg is as excellent as you would imagine.
My ideal podcast would include Gray and Michael Calvin just chatting about football with a different guest. Both make the art of hosting a show seem ridiculously easy.

I have a feeling I'm just copying Ursus given he tweeted about one of these yesterday and he was already a listener to The Infinite Inning when I mentioned that before but I really enjoy the following podcasts.
Sarajevo Calling about the Balkans
The Lebanese Politics Podcast
The Arab Tyrant Manual mostly Middle east and africa
From Russia With News Moscow Times podcast
Arms Control Wonk Arms control and nonproliferation
I'd like more well informed, english language podcasts focusing on a single country or local region. I;m guessing english may be the sticking point.

This is great. This random dude remembers a song. He remembers most of the lyrics and the tune, so he tries to track it down.
It was a killer track - a hit, if he recalls correctly - but he can't find a single trace of it anywhere - not the artist, the lyrics, any recording, nothing. Nor anyone who even remembers hearing it.
The Case of the Missing Hit.

[SPOILER] The entire podcast reminded me of an experience I had. When I was in high school, delivering pizza one rainy fall night, I heard a song on the radio that I fell in love with. They never announced the song or the band, and I never heard it again. Maybe 5 years later, I heard the original of the song (what I had heard was a cover), and I started casting about to find the version I heard. I hunted everywhere. I even tracked down one of the sharpest minds in alternative music, Alan Cross, the guy who came up with most of the arcane facts behind the MTV/VH1 show Pop Up Video. He said it sounded vaguely familiar, but he couldn't place it. Then he contacted me months later and said he had the shred of a band name, and from there I discovered the band name. Then I found out who was in the band, then I found a guy in the band. At long last, the guy in the band got back to me and burned me a copy of the song to a CD. It had only ever been released as a limited pressing promo, so it never got onto Napster or the web. Anyway, it was the old bluegrass tune Orange Blossom Special, performed by Age of Mirrors.
