If you Could Only Have Two Billy Wlder Films

Really difficult this but right now "Sunset Boulevard" and "Ace In The Hole". Ask me again tomorrow though...

Remarkably consistent output makes it hard to pick two.

Strike Double Indemnity (because it's all over the Barbara Stanwyck thread). I'll go for Some Like it Hot and Lost Weekend, though there's half a dozen others equally worthy.

      (What's Keith?)

Stalag 17 and Ace in the Hole are my top-two.

Revisited The Apartment and Some Like it Hot not too long ago and they still grabbed my attention.

Ace In The Hole has one of my all-time movie quotes ("I've met a lot of hard-boiled eggs in my time, but you -- you're twenty minutes", Jan Sterling to Kirk Douglas), and Sabrina is quite enchanting.

But it has to be the obvious ones: Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard.

To be honest, my choices can change every ooh five minutes. He were good that Wilder bloke.

                  The Apartment

                  Double Indemnity

Easiest choice I'd ever have to make. The Apartment isn't just my fave Wilder film, it's my favourite film of any kind, ever, by miles. And Double Indemnity is my favourite noir by anyone.

Trickier to choose the third, but probably Sunset Boulevard. Certainly not the very good but massively overrated Some Like it Hot.
