He was a hugely likeable performer, deserving of respect for his political activities and by all accounts a nice guy. Hopefully the BBC will do the decent thing and run a week of Rockford Files repeats, preferably in the latish slot the show pretty much owned for a number of years.
When old actors check out, I'm usually thinking "that's a shame". But with Garner, it's "aw...damn". Just a wonderfully likeable guy all around. Hell, I even liked him on Polaroid commercials.
James Garner also had a dope habit that would put George Michael to shame.
He did? Blimey, didn't know that. That said, the man was a far more entertaining entity and afforded me far more pleasure than the Stubbled One himself.
