I watched this last night. It's a revenge scenario about a man who goes after the guy who killed his parents, and who has just been released from prison.
It's electrifying. One of the best thrillers I've ever seen. Everything is pared back to the bone relentlessly -- it clocks in at 90 minutes and nothing is wasted. There's some superb use of sound in it, particularly silences and gaps. The main actor, Macon Blair, is extraordinarily convincing.
It creates the sense of overwhelming, suffocating dread that True Detective was striving hard for but couldn't quite manage. I sat through all of True Detective and quite enjoyed most of it, but this is in a different league. Incredibly tense.
