    Jean-Jaques Beineix

Jean-Jaques Beineix dies at 75. I loved Diva, for a long time it was my favourite film ever. I haven't seen it for years (partly since I know my teenage/student self had pretty poor taste and I'd rather remember it as unutterably cool rather than discover it was actually a bit rubbish). Betty Blue came out while I was actually a student (and it was an almost perfect student film) and I loved it too (especially the scene where the two main male characters start drinking tequila slammers before a funeral and can't stop laughing)

Diva, Betty Blue and Moon In The Gutter are all I know of his stuff. They’re all decent films. Far bigger names have made a lot of far worse tosh.

Ive been meaning to rewatch Diva these last couple of weeks to find out if it’s where I picked up the habit of stirring a cafetière with a wooden spoon before doing the press thing as it’s something MrsSundep regularly asks about and outside of a film I’ve no answer.
